Day/Night Cycle

Postby scypheroth » Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:52 pm

I was wondering if there will be a day/night cycle implemented in the game? I mean i enjoy playing in constant day(not) like everyone else....but it has no sense of danger or exploration...why not have wolfs or night animals come out at night and such. Make thous torches and fire places useful!

I actually have to agree with this. While I think the concept of the darkness as it stands now is really neat, I miss the day/night cycle of Haven & Hearth.. even though a lot of people bypassed it. It adds a level of realism I'd like to see.

Generally speaking, day/night cycles are "realistic", but make for really terrible gameplay mechanics.

I personally don't think we'll see it because the term "darkness" has so much more of a meaning here than it does in most games.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Could be interesting though you know, in the darkness at night, with it getting darker in the darkness. Might make it challenging if you got caught unawares, fleeing from the shadows as they approach you, trying to escape the now deadly drain.

There will be no day or night cycles...only civilized land or uncivilized land (aka darkness).

People would just use night vision anyway.

90% of the time, day/night cycles are only cosmetic (probably 95-99%). The only game I have played with a meaningful day/night cycle has been Haven & Hearth, and then it only changed fishing.

Actually, it causes dew in the Lady's Mantles, as well. ^^
