that is not what JC said...
he said it was to stop botting and to keep people from avoiding being stocked.

i doubt it stopped any botting that may have been going on since most bots would have been for foraging and you just need a brand new 5 bile char for that.
it has obviously not stopped stock dodging

....and survival component?
if they wanted that then they should have just implemented the new gluttony system they seem to want to implement... at least THAT has a purpose...
the insanity/madness system is just strait trolling.... it has no point.... and solves none of the problems we were told it was suppose to solve.

I really don't understand why people have issues with madness

This is a small timeline from where I was logged in at the Jewel. Time stamps give a good time frame. Character was online a additional 8 hours after this screen and only received 5 madness levels. If i had studied once a hour I would never gain a single point of madness.

Ya'll know that as soon as an insanity meter is added to a public client, the whole system will change just to say "***** you" to the powergamers, right?

HAHA... Yeah and i would love it if it happens!

I don't understand why people say it is pointless or just against botter.
This Insanity/Madness Thing is great.
For me it is a little game not to gain a single level even if i'm online for much hours like on a weekend.
And people... i was online long time the whole weekend and have not gained a single level of madness.

It works very fine if you know how to handle it.
All people who crying about it have simple not understand how it works.

you are a REAL ***** idiot... i have explained how it works many times and you keep telling me to read the patch notes...

the mechanic its self is simple:
you gain insanity by being online
you gain insanity from doing things like feeding turkeys to turkey coops

to ovoid it you are FORCED to do other tasks like studying inspirational, sharping sticks and cooking.

to get rid of madness you have to logout in a bed with a teddybear
or smoke tabaco that last i checked had a horrible rate of reducing lvl 1 madness.

if you try to do things with even a SINGLE ***** madness level then horrible things happen.... like a fire that destroys every thing in your inventory... itchy pants..... tools becoming completely useless... items in your inventory that troll you.... so on.....

the benefits of this are.......... the game trolling you..... YAY funsss........



people don't like it because it ***** with them
some people like only doing set things.... i had a guy in one of my villages that only liked cutting down trees and making dryboard piles.
other people have a very limited amount of time to play... so they want to ADVANCE their char or BUILD something with in the time they have.
or they just want to ***** around with other people or stand around in their village to talk about their day..... or upcoming movie or some ****.


this insanity thing is NOT great... it is a steaming pile of **** fresh from a trolls ass.

Your position has been noted. The game is operating as intended. We will not be adding an insanity meter and, indeed, as soon as one is estimated and included into a client, we will change all of the variables and probably add new ones just to keep things fresh :)

As a side note, the OP may want to take their play time elsewhere as you are clearly not enjoying Salem as it is intended to be enjoyed. I hope you find a game better suited to your tastes. The team will not consider further repetition of these same concerns, because clearly we disagree. The answer is still "No." in this case and if you can't accept that, I formally release you from your self-imposed bonds of obligation to Salem. Be free, little bird. Be free.
