Since you played for 9 hours, it's very possible that you lowered your insanity to 0 early on, kept doing things you didn't need to do for hours, and then mistakenly thought yourself safe for the rest of the day. However, if you then played for about 4 hours without doing anything to lower insanity; if you got into a rhythm sifting rubble, for example, you could have gained a level.

being online for a day straight only got me to madness 5 on the alt in the same town you are in.

You don't consider studying a few inspirationals as play time?

Seriously, if you want to keep madness at 0, learn how the mechanic works before ***** on the forums about it.

Adding a meter would be very easy to do. Edd had the math almost perfect.
