Darwoth wrote:spamming auth flags inside a brickwall for tax position is fine so long as you want to pay the 75s/day per flag, as soon as you stop doing so and the bell is empty you drop off the leaderboard.

also a lot changes in 8 months which is how long it has been since that post you cited was made.

Ah alright then, my mistake, though I'm not quite sure this is how it works, iirc my town on popham was crawling up closer to the top as I was building new stones without paying for them, but you probably know better.

Yeah, during the past year we had a fun ride with a lot of updates and I totally understand it's not that easy to keep up with everything when there are that many changes and it's totally fine to forget things every now and then, but that's not how you act when you forgot to do something and people lost results of their efforts and money because of your mistake. Apologizing and solving the issue or offering a partial refund is something I would expect from any game developers in similar situation.

It's survival of the fittest gentlemen, better buckle up.

I am not a complete idiot and have almost 6 years of HnH experience (which's claims and authority system salem's system is based on) and when I was planning my outer brickwall I did check for that sort of information and found all the related info on both wikis and forums. That's what I've found:

My friend pmd devs describing the situation and linked this JC's post(which is deleted now as you can see). After two days he got a reply:

Which is

So yeah, don't bother paying your upkeep anymore folks. Competing for top ten towns was never easier, just spam dem flags inside of your brickwall and never pay. Working as intended.
I don't think there is any conspiracy to this, it's not that hard to find out on your own if you are an active raider, but dev's reaction is what bothers me. "Oh well, we forgot to mention a crucial update, suck it up, the best course of actions now is to erase all the proofs it was not always like that and call you a fool", so basically it looks like they only want to cover their own mistake, that's a very demotivating attitude and I don't think I would want to come back to salem untill community management will start to act more responsible and respective towards community (and less biased maybe? oh well, I said no conspiracy).

Thanks, Grapie. I do remember that JC's post and Google remember it aswell.
Hope this link will work for others.

well seems theres one chance for JC

1) remove authority destruction under wasteclaim, and bring a decent patch with content and stuff that satisfies player (note to jc: not a patch that makes the game more hell)
2) have all decent player from the main towns leave and keep some newb players left.... oh and darwat.....

I'm going to take a moment amidst the rather insulting insinuations that we're trying to cover something up here to get into your guys' shoes.

A change occurred a few months back to a mechanic that has to do with defenses. No notification went out about it. This is upsetting because it may have been something I relied upon in my base design. Or I'm a top 10 town who has a sprawling field of unprotected auth objects. Or due to my base design I've already been raided. Or I feel there's a conspiracy happening.

Well, if there's a conspiracy, there's nothing the devs can possibly do to change my mind on the conspiracy, as is the nature of conspiracies. I just get titillated at the idea of catching those two assholes in the act of deceiving a community they've worked toward pleasing for a solid year. ***** those guys.

The dev has offered to be PM'd if my base was raided due to the mechanic change. I PM him and he defends his position directly and asks if there's anything in particular he can do as a result of the loss. I'm still upset and don't make a request because he clearly doesn't understand the situation or how upset I am.

I can't be bothered to protect all those boundry stones because that would force me to have to log in more than once a day for 5 minutes to feed my turkeys and that would just be too much effort. I'm a top 10 town and should have received just as much pre-notice as Darwoth!

I can't be bothered to restructure my base design and place boundry stones within my brick wall because it would take too much time and effort and I didn't receive any notification, even though it's been 24 hours since this happened and I am still unraided.

-----

I closed down the slanderous and completely unfounded thread in HoB which prominently suggested even in the title that we gave unfair notice to Darwoth, opening this one so everyone would know the change happened (quite a while ago), and even suggested opening an Idea thread to discuss the mechanic. And yet that's not enough. Because the semi active vets (or completely inactive vets) receive so much pleasure from publicly complaining about the situation. And yet the content of your arguments appear to want us to take you seriously, which astounds me. I'm trying to work with you guys, if in your blinding rage you haven't noticed. I'm trying to be upfront. I did all of this to get ahead of it and make sure everyone was heard and everyone effected was given the opportunity to communicate directly about their situation. So, all that being said, I will once again invite those effected to PM me and I will happily hear them out. I will not be reversing the mechanic change immediately as, again, this was not a recent change. But the team will give due consideration to arguments against it and we may change the way authority objects behave in the future.

Thank you to those of you who have remained constructive while discussing this topic, both here and in PM.

One thing I would like to add. How can you quote something from when the game was in beta and expect it to hold true in the released version?

For the love of god... delete that comment, think for 1 minute about the answer to this question and let's forget this your blonde moment. I will delete this post too after you have deleted yours.
