The biggest mistake Lorb made was hyping it up and then kicking all their players in the nuts with the subscription. After playing it for a while I don't know if 7 hrs is enough time, even with alts. Either way it's disheartening to pay time based subscriptions to play grindy games like these.

The game is prettier with it's new skin but I still don't think it's better than Salem after playing it for a week.

I fail to see how they were "good at building up hype" with little to no info they provided
The hype was built by the community alone, which made assumptions and raised expectation based solely on a couple of screenshots/vids.

I actually believe they did quite a good job on hafen and I expect it to become a great game in the future.
While I'm not so keen on paying for alpha in its current state, I am definitely checking it out in a year or two.

Exactly this. Dev's did almost zero hype. The large community did most of it. Another example of cleaty being a massive idiot.

I haven't been able to play but everyone I've talked to who left for hnh say it's great. I don't really have the time for it unfortunately.

The dev hype came from the vids and screens. It was enough to build up the expectations.

Overall I've played it a bit. It's definitely reskinned and 'prettier'. I get that they changed the combat mechanic significantly but it still is sort of the worst mechanic compared to Salem. The other stuff is okay I guess. They changed some of the other mechanics significantly but I don't really know about the crafting. I never got that far in regular old Haven. Overall it seems like a prettier version of old Haven but still clunkier and less smooth and organized than Salem. It seems less interesting also. There are tons of trees but the biomes make less sense. I'd love to see fruit trees in the wilds of Salem.

I don't know, it's okay. I'll play it for free but I doubt I'll get the subscription, maybe in the future.

Its an idea that brings money.

Something the HnH developer dont seem to want with 7 worlds of free HnH and an 8th world with a retarded cash shop for retards.

This thread is so sad, the developers brought up a great game with Haven & Hearth and then brought you Salem and now so far I am really enjoying the next iteration of Haven. The hate shown towards Jorb and Loftar within this thread (oh and claeyt's idiotic opinions he thinks are fact) makes me cry a little.

I have no hate towards either Jorb or Loftar. They are amazing Idea-men. Its the time it takes them to implement them in a functional manner that makes me shy away from HnH2. Paying Subscription for an alpha when we all experienced Jorbtar during paradox days...Yeah...not gonna happen.

I already left Salem for HnH. It was HnH that brought me to Salem in the first place, and I always kept a soft spot for my first love - the old/2d/ugly/whatever HnH. Well to be fair I was never much of a Salem player, I returned for the expeditions thinking they will ofer some new faster paced gameplay. Unfortunately I was wrong. Still the same grindfest. I actualy left Salem long before HnH launched, after all my friends on Popham disappeared 1 by 1, leaving me all alone in a huge town.

Now I play HnH and I love every second of it. I have two accounts and still have free time on both (not a hardocre player), but as soon as the time will finish I will activate both accounts (a 1 time 15usd payment) and will never go out of time. It's my way to support the devs for years of free entertainment. I was too reluctant at first, when I saw the shop. Paying for a subcription in alpha state - not even Blizzard could pull that one off. My main concern was not the money, since I can afford them, but the fact that I will play on an empty game, since people will run away. It is not the case. Even the devs were suprised by the succes of the shop, and they stated that will put all their effort in the development of the game. So far they released updates twice/week. Servers are never under 400players. So far the game is awesome. Sure there are bugs, but gameplay is solid. If they keep the same pace I will play their game forever. I even consider subscribing to offer more the most of my support (and get a hat of course)

On last thing about the HnH shop. Cosmetic items are account bound and you can never lose them to other players or to the environment. I have to state this because it has to do with the main reason I suddenly left Salem. I had some cosmetic items on Salem from mystery boxes that I have paid before, stored on an inactive character. I lost them without a possibility to do anything about it when the looting of sleepers in undefended leantos was implemented. Someone found my deep asleep character somewhere in the woods and stole everything. I always played Salem with huge gaps of inactivity (months, maybe even a year) between my playing sessions. I lost a lot due to this inactivity - claims, houses, stuff, character development, even friends, etc. But I was always ok with the fact that I can always come back whenever I want to play again with my asleep admiral hat/peacock mask wearing pilgrim and start fresh. I am ok that you can lose store items due to your actions in game, with the possibility to take action against it (defend, hide, run, fight, etc.), but losing them while inactive put me off bigtime. I will not buy anything from the store ever again because I cannot commit to play just so that I can protect my valued items.
