Yea, sure, you are also more than welcome to take your fresh 5 humors charcter and walk straight into the darkness with it for an added challenge,
you could always raise one bile first to your desired lvl (500 or so) and only then the next,
or play without walls and do crimes with your main only because ...you know ...challenge.
Not using alts right now is like intentionally handicapping yourself, you are more than welcome to do so, but it would not be smart, and that's a fact.

Assuming you have good intentions saying/repeating that, think of that:
Where is your master key?
- on one of your chars, or on your claim
And where is that chars leanto/HS?
- on your claim (except you have a stronger friend that you dont want to play with but trust enough to safekeep your char/key... o.O)
So what happens?
- ANYONE who can break your walls, WILL have access to your master key, and can easily exchange all the locks in your doors, trapping yourself in there, or taking over your base much easier.
Only the raider profits from that, but nice try, really.
Oh, but, but, but... I could store the master key in a locked metal chest and access it with attuned slave keys, it's only 16 wrought iron bars for such a chest, that's dirt cheap!
- Then anyone breaking in can carry the chest away and later open it or drop it into a river, leaving your without options to make any further keys or locks, and eventually forcing you to replace all locks, just like it is now, only more work.
