Planting, woodworking, and cooking already lower insanity.

Farming does not seem to do much, if anything. I did 50 cotton fields last night without studying much as a test, and gained a madness before finishing. This includes harvesting, cleaning, making cloth, and re-planting.

Interesting that most people responding enjoy the abuse. If this has fixed the AFK "issue" I guess you achieved your goal, but beyond that I just don't see it adds anything else of value to the game. Both Gluttony and Inspiration have an easily understood purpose. Thank goodness we have less AFK players I guess? May have less players in general.

Try planting things in pots. Also, try reading the patch notes, which give you a list of all the things that will reduce your insanity gain. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13907 Remember to also read the Mini Updates at the end where many player suggested reductions were added.

I wouldn't be surprised if your base now gets raided from the goodies you received. If you go back and read the patch notes for insanity/madness you should have no problem managing it. Please keep the tears flowing they are so good.

I already know that. A friend played in Popham and I was lured into it. My problem with madness was only in the second week playing - and the point which you couldn't understand is: this can happen to newbies even in Providence and they will be in a very difficult situation

You can't simple mine geodes with madness 3 because you will be afraid of breaking you pickaxe (probably your only item worth more than 100s)

The solutions people are saying in this post make sense, queent8r. Try to improve the game like them instead of being an ass with new player issues.

He had a good point on the line of reasoning we were embarking. Which was that being active in itself should be the only requirement to stay sane, so as to not break .. let's call it immersion, by making a miner need to go pot plants or cook food in a town where cooks and gardeners already exist. So in the hope of making it fair for all professions, farmers could use some love as they are clearly not bots, afk-ers or what have you that's intended to be weeded out, and as such their chores should reduce insanity at a rate compatible with the amount it takes to do those chores.

Sounds to me like you are making the ass out of yourself rather than I. I also mine but you can't just mine all the time. The insanity mechanic works if you take the time to learn it. Seems to me you rather complain than listen to anything anyone says here. I am now switching my cup to a barrel to collect your tears. Keep them coming as I may need a water tower soon.

Skimmed most of this thread but madness is certainly balanced properly, thats besides the fact that I don't like it at all, it is very easy to go work around it. Popham is a good example were people managed to deal with madness very early on and made it quite irrelevant from scratch within a couple months. (Perhaps its more usefull on Popham, however making tabacco easier to obtain will make it somewhat OP for Popham)

I cant believe people are really crying about Madness! Yeah it makes the game a bit harder and you get angry when your steel axe turns to **** but hard games are the fun ones. Im not licking JC's ass Im just saying its so stupid to actually say that madness is breaking the game. There are so many people that play so many hours and they have the madness in check. I play around 8 hours a day and dont have problems with it.
I can sell affluence sets if you cant make them :D (PM me XD)

Sell your Teddy, make another, test if still having the same issue with the damn thing inaccessible to anyone ever and you not exposing yourself to anything remotely shady (no afk-ing anywhere, always be aware of your surroundings) etc etc. @ Pietin with the sleeping issues :P
