same issue. tried to delete salem folder, update video driver, use latikai client - didnt help. also game worked well week before. what happened?

found, this is connection problem. Try use proxy and all by good

I've been experiencing the same problem: black screen after the login window for a couple minutes, after which the login screen shows up again.

An explanation or even better a solution would be much appreciated.

Same... Tried out new Windows, all Java versions, graphic settings', Ender\Latikai, proxy - everything useless.

I wanted to start playing the game too, but I am having the same issue: I log in, I get a black screen and after a while (a few minutes) it kicks me back to the log-in screen.

I have tried this on Java 8 u45 and Java 7 u80. Nothing shows up in the Java console.
I have tried the default client and a custom one (Latikai), configuring Java for medium security level, adding URL exceptions in Java, disabling the Windows firewall, disabling my router firewall, using a few proxies for Java, all to no avail. Some investigation/updates/fixes would be indeed welcome as I am really keen on playing this game.

The same problem on my notebook, so it's:
1) connection (ports opened, firewalls disabled); - provider?..
2) Win 7 x64 incompatibility (new! just installed);
3) magic (most likely).

It's awesome! Without debug info, errors or SOMETHING. If you have some mana, dudes, fix it, please. It's too powerful magic for my skills...

P.S. Also tried enabling\disabling DirectDraw, Direct3D, atni-aliasing, anisotropic filtering.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! So, ultimately, it was a connection issue. Hopefully the devs will take a look at the connection and get this fix'd. Thank you so so much!

Yes thank you so much! My normal client works but either of the custom clients don't. It's very frustrating because when I used the search almost every single post related to this was from 2013, I had to manually search titles for this one... luckily it was only on page 2.

Hopefully the devs will take a look at the connection and get this fix'd.

It's most likely a thing somewhere between you and the server, and if so I can't imagine a whole lot to do about it. The VPN simply reroutes the traffic around whatever router breaks it.
