This is a pretty important part of the mechanic, especially for new players.

I'm pretty sure that it still works. I have been playing on popham and it seems like it has been working as intended.
Then again people are butchering baby goats and getting hams and pork loins so i have no idea what is going on and i can't do anything about it until John gets back.

I'm pretty sure sleeing in leafy beds does not reduce insanity. After having slept for ~10 hours my character gained madness level within 10 minutes of waking up without any insanity-increasing actions

That must be something he changed. When i tested the mechanic all beds reduced insanity. The only difference between the beds was the amount of inspiration gained.

yes and it has nothing to do madness with insanity

A friend reported he went from 1 to zero madness a few times with a teddy, but was at madness 1 again within minutes (even after sleeping rather long!), so i had to assume that using a teddy though reduces madness but doe nothing to insanity.
But it might be that this was changed and beds don't do anything to insanity now anyways, thouhg then I wonder why I never had any...
