In case you're being confused about insanity versus Madness. Insanity is the hidden value that accumulates towards madness. Madness is the level of insanity.


I know the difference, I was just confused...

Question: Do beds, used without a teddy, still reduce insanity?!

Nope, only affect madness.

Guess this has been fixed after the "only vague patch notes from now on" statement. -.-

JC, stuff like this still needs to be clear!
Introducing new stuff and not (much) telling about it... ok.
But this, deliberately changing stuff like this and then maybe mentioning it on page 105 of the 120 pages rage against madness, or not at all... no, that is not acceptable.

1. Yes, beds with AND without teddy don't affect insanity.
2. Yes, without teddy they don't affect madness either.

When has this been removed?

Can you refer to a dev statement, besides the one in this thread?

Sleeping in a bed reduces your insanity and increases inspiration gained.
Sleeping in a bed with a teddy bear for eight hours will reduce madness one level. It will only reduce one level of madness.
After eight hours you need to log in and log back out if you want to lose another level.
When one first logs into their client the madness indicator will always show no madness until the client receives some kind of information from the server. I believe the easiest way to force an update is to enter a structure.
I am 99% sure this is how things are but John changes things and "Forgets" to inform me sometimes.

I'm pretty sure sleeing in leafy beds does not reduce insanity. After having slept for ~10 hours my character gained madness level within 10 minutes of waking up without any insanity-increasing actions

That must be something he changed. When i tested the mechanic all beds reduced insanity. The only difference between the beds was the amount of inspiration gained.

Can you please ask JC to make sure if this changed or not?

This is a pretty important part of the mechanic, especially for new players.
