Must have missed the patchnote about this change to the beds if there was one. With that said I haven't had much problems with insanity/madness though despite being deceived by the beds for some time now apparently. xD

I do wonder though, do tobacco also reduce insanity now in addition of the change of reducing madness? Because that would make it a lot more useful, particularly if it's talk about a decent insanity reduction.

No, tobacco doesn't reduce insanity, though you can suggest it in the ideas section.

if u ask me the madness and insanity macanic is MM verion of what me hate a bout mobile games but they do it in a way thats not bad
in sted of makign it so u can only play for XX:XX unless u pay they make it so if u play non stop for like 30?hrs u die ^_^

that's not even true. You can prolong that indefinitely by studying something from time to time.
I haven't gained a single madness level since the patch, and that includes alts that go clay digging. All it takes is some silly inspirational from time to time.

ive got to work on wording my posts :P
me know its nothing like it and u can prolong but the basic parts of madness and insanity feel like that ...at leace to me XD

Madness has essentially placed a timer on a sandbox building game. I am at madness level 2 and iterated between studying, picking flowers, wittling and playing a note. This has caused me to completely stop building my base because I am constantly focusing on getting madness down. This definitely needs some work, us low level peeps cannot get a teddy bear, because bear will kill you, and it has many times. The amount of things that make you gain madness exceeds the amount of things that bring it down. Is anyone keen on parting with a teddy bear? I have 200 silver.

You can buy two crappy meals for that, maybe you get a teddy from that with some luck. x3

Though on a more serious note, I hope you are not studying, picking flowers, whittling and playing music only in an attempt to bring down your madness? Those things only reduces your insanity and have no effect on your madness levels other than preventing you from gaining another.

And no, even if one list seems longer than the other you have to consider that the things that give insanity are actually from mostly avoidable uncommon tasks, while things that reduces insanity are rather common tasks. The only major contributor to insanity is time itself. So it's rather well balanced. You got over 2 hours to grind nonstop if you, like me, can't stand being distracted from a major project. Then do a study session to get up your skills, prepare food for your next gluttony session (baking and roasting things over a fire also reduces insanity) and all the other things you've already been doing to reduce insanity.

Now I am confused, please make this clear:
- Teddy bear reduces madness, ok
- beds now reduce only madness and no insanity anymore?!

I hope that is a typo, or the teddy would be useless now, also I have not heard of anyone lowering his madness level with only a bed and no teddy.

She meant the beds only reduce madness in combination with a teddy. Before they patched it the beds reduced insanity over time, even without teddy, allowing you to start fresh every morning without an immediate concern for the insanity. Of course, the beds are still useful for boosting your inspiration gain.

In case you're being confused about insanity versus Madness. Insanity is the hidden value that accumulates towards madness. Madness is the level of insanity.
