The newer players or the inefficient hermits that haven't cracked 100 and just dont have it down yet I think got hit hard by insanity. Not passing judgement. ..play at your own pace, just saying my perception.

A side note, if you don't have plantation management, the acquisition of enough tobacco seeds to replant is a bit tricky, unless changed in the mini patch. Then again, perhaps it's considered an advanced crop.

But they do have it just as easy. Everything that lowers insanity is something you should be doing at all stages of the game. Humors have nothing to do with it.

True, they should be more engaged in tasks that lower insanity. I haven't hit over madness 3, so I'm not sure what people are doing to get to the higher towers so quickly.

Probably playing 10-15 hours a day ...

The amount of time you play is irrelevant, it's how long you spend on one single activity. I got 2 madness levels from spending most of that day constructing, smelting and mining. But after I started using a timer for 2 hours sanity breaks I haven't had any more issues with gaining madness levels. I spend those breaks making fireplace based restorative foods and leveling up my proficiencies before I go back to the non-calming tasks; my madness levels haven't raised any more since that.

Salem Deserved that change for a long time now.

Almost all the similar risk vs reward games have this mechanic implemented.

Before this, it took half a second to hit "alt-f4 and escape the most silly situation.

Now u got to think about your next move, will it be your last?

It was more correct if the hunter wore a suit that all actions related to hunting only lowered madness
He wore a suit and miner can dig without restrictions.
It turns out that you only I had mine level 7-1 run not to get crazy
Good thing there are still tobacco. I bought 10 pieces, and can dig safely.

If we love some activity, for example if my mine and mountain is high enough, doesn't it show that I like digging and rocks? So anything I do with rocks like mining should lower not increase my insanity.

it should increase your obsession with rocks and make you all the more insane.
The only people I know that go insane about rocks are the ones that have a lot of rocks.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Then picking flower too. Check my signature.
As you say, insanity should only be gained from stuff that you do excessively, again and again, day to day. If you enjoy a variety of activities you shouldn't increase it. Like going hunting after 3 days of only picking flower should decrease not increase your insanity.

Please add in next patch:
1) Sitting on a chair reducing insanity.
2) Sleeping in bed slowly restore Yellow Bile.

I would've thought that adding a lot of fertiliser should make you insane too, I am talking about liming a field to 1000%. I realise they have changed that so the bonus drops off more quickly, which is quite frustrating. I also miss the fact that turkey droppings no longer restore upkeep, to me, shredding a tree into wood shavings every few days is more insane than anything.

Has anyone really considered how this is all going to work on a new server? I have no idea how I got madness 2, but lets just assume it happened before I got a bed. Logging off in the wild with no bed is going to be the norm in a new server. That aside, for those of us people that cant make tobacco (and I have yet to see any in stalls) this is a huge silver drain. Yes I know the older players can spend 250 a pop till the cows come home, but for a new player that is 9 charms.

So some random thoughts.
How about a gatherable weed in the wild that also reduces a very small amount of madness - wild tobacco.
How about some indication that you have been doing something too long? Yawning, stretching, etc. Since this patch is intended to force a behavior don't make me run some external timer to remind me to use some useless inspiration or pick a flower.
How about allowing you to sleep in your leanto - maybe no bonus to inspiration regen, but helps with insanity? A bed L0 where leafy is L1, simple L2?

I honestly have not read the dozens of posts on this thread, so sorry if these have already been posted. I am still somewhat confused as to the purpose of this new mechanic, but despite what the vets are saying, it is in fact a PITA to new players
Awwww...Care Bears are so cute!!!!
