Also it seems to add a lot of extra difficulty to newbies, while well equipped/skilled characters just need to play their instrument respectively grow some tobacco. Crafting unneeded stuff just to lower insanity is not fun. Also fishing in Salem is not interesting (neither is it relaxing). It definately adds some extra chores, contrary as mentioned. But i'm curious how it develops and so far Salem is a good game. I'm confident.

I appreciate your optimism. I think it will shake out. I don't think anybody with 30+ hours of playtime is a 'noob' so much anymore and if anything this will be nothing more than a mechanic to force them to socialize and explore the world around them a bit more.

Just so I'm not wasting my time picking daisies, daisies are considered a flower and likewise will reduce insanity, correct? They're just so abundant in a certain biome so I am just curious.

Daisies are considered a flower, and yes running around an Oak Savannah for a bit picking up daisies is one way to keep your insanity at bay for a few hours.

Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Is there a "Sane pool"? Can one pick flowers for a hour and stock up "sane" time so insanity will not start until that time is over?

Yes, it did bring me much pleasure to think that the 'correct' way to kill a turkey now is to starve it out :).

hmmmm one could think of it that way. It takes between 3-5 hours to hit madness 1 if you are in neutral position. So if you were at madness level 0, and were to then pick flower to insanity 0, you could have at least that much time without having to worry about it.

Thinking over the insanity system alot, and roaming around it does seem rather balanced and adds a new dimension to the game.

When you are outside of your village / claim, just pick the inspritional flowers as you pass them to offset the insanity.

When you are inside your claim, cook foods over time for your glutton sessions, not all at once.

Whittling ? Make wooden handles for torchposts, 10 every few hours is not a big deal.

Considering i have now played for several hours now (well non stop since patch), and i still have (what looks like) 0 madness what im guessing almost 0 insanity and i have hunted animals, done mining, done smelting, cooked stuff etc, i am noticing almost no difference.

It just seems an extra measure of needing to be carefull.

EDIT: Except that crazy flame that started to burn my inventory, however with all do fairness i had just harvested 500+ coal in a row, that should make one go insane.
