We ran into a snag on it. But its still on our radar.

Nothing stops you from making a poll yourself in City on Hill. I reserve the right to add insanity to anybody who votes to remove it.

The Precious is quite an interesting little thing indeed ¦] You are merely having a Psychotic Episode. I do believe you can shift mouse wheel it into a barrel so someone else may be forced to find it and deal with it :).

Yet they are also both Roguish Sandbox games that already share certain game mechanics…

The problem isn't whether the games are different though, it would still not be absurd to draw some inspiration from the other even if the games where completely different genres, some concepts obviously fits in multiple genres. It's just that people that don't like this patch are making up a bunch of irrelevant excuses at the moment, while the real problem is that their comfort zone has been threatened and thus they have paranoia about losing their character. As a result they don't even want to give it a try before complaining despite it taking a good 3-5 hours or more of AFK to gain even one madness level, which should be completely manageable by even those who use Salem as a chat-room.

My comfort zone is just fine here in my chair. If i lose a character then so be it. Im against the way the patch is currently implemented. Whittling, Flower picking, Fishing. You know what they all have in common? They are the only few things with sifting added to it that id rather bot to do than do myself. Im against botting though so i just dont do those things. Forcing it on us makes the game less enjoyable.

And speaking of Dont starve & Salem. They are 2 different games. Taking ideas & perfecting them for your own game is awesome. However implementing flawed ideas are not.

The charm of salem has always been the sandbox nature of the game. Devs providing a land & mechanics for the playerbase to do with how they see fit.

Dont starve on the other hand...Was a very linear sandbox experience. No politics no player interaction (calling the bad coop player interaction would be high praise) Meant it needed some flavour to keep you playing something to keep combating.

Salem can have that sure. But If i am supposed to be insane 90% of the time i am pretty sure i wont enjoy the game very much even if its lesser madness levels. (Not to mention the darn whispers get repetitive quite quick)

Indeed, the voices don't necessarily mean there is any 'change'. The frequency that you hear voices is what is the indicator. Here is a loose template.

Madness 1 = No Voices
Madness 2 = Voice every 2 hours.
Madness 3 = Voice every hour.
Madness 8 = Voice every 1-2 Minutes
Madness 9 = Voice ever 10-20 seconds.

As you can see, it gets pretty aggressive so once the voices are talking to you rapidly its time to make sure you find some tobacco.

Then don't let your madness levels get high and you won't hear them.

You are not intended to have a meter on the 'small' gains of insanity in your day to day life, as this is not meant to be some bar that consumes your every moment and is constantly on your mind.
...

Thank you for making this clear to us!

I have a question for you to keep our real-life insanity low :)

If a client crashes or for some reason a character is not properly logged out at the termination of the client - after how much time without response from the client will the server log the character out automatically?
