Thanks for your valuable contribution ;)

They can explore with 2 hay in their inventory or pick grass when they want to log off.

Forcing an explorer to lose the ability to port back to their base simply for going on a little exploration adventure was not something we were prepared to do. Not to mention if you have scents out this is even less practical.

What about an "1 day shelter"? A building that allows the player to logout, keeping the original base to fast travel back with the inventory empty if they want to. 8-)

That does not sound bad, but assuming:
- it is cheap like a leanto, it would nullify the whole mechanic with simply adding more work for nothing, and harshly punishing things that you can not effect at all (things that sever your connection or force you to immidiately logg out)
- it is expensive, then it would not make much sense to start with, and it would most likely encourage using alts, even for exploring

doesn't solve the scents problem. you can log out but they can just summon you, or worse, wall you in.
You thought I quit.

By the way, are dried squirrel pelts supposed to be different in any way?
You can't use them to make limed hides...

Maybe i didn't understood you, but is this "scents problem" you say the possibility of summoning a criminal even when offline? I like this idea because criminals must be punished and this makes players think twice before doing something wrong before the law haha. Something interesting would be the possibility to build a hideout, making it hard to track the criminal (harder but possible).

Temporary shelters are a good idea because it's risky, forcing the player to search a good spot to build it and minimize the chances of being trapped or hunted by another player :D

I think they're suppose to be a way for noobs to make a few easy coins before they are capable of hunting rabbits and beavers. If you could make leather from them it would be pretty retarded seeing as they spawn in huge zergs and only need to be picked up, not killed.

Otherwise they are confined to searching for nothing but indian feathers/arrowheads and the occasional couple of coins/dried snake skin in logs.

I don't see your point here, rabbits spawn in huge packs, too, and are marginally more difficult to pick up, yet the most "difficult" part in making leather (for a new player), is getting the tanning fluid (in sufficient quantities).

Therefore, I don't see why squirrel pelts should behave any different than those of rabbits, but maybe I missed something, so go ahead and enlight me! :D

attacking rabbits have the risk of summoning a Hare, in my experience they showed up enough times to make me only hunt close to my gates
