That was the goal indeed. A bit of a backstory.

I left my base. I headed out to gather granite and lime which would be found in a biome just a minute or two away from my base when I had encountered a Furfur. My initial thoughts were "it's going to be one of those days" and continued to ignore it as I wanted to finish building my corner post to expand my base (which at this point has a hole for anything to walk through). I gathered my granite only to find a wishpoosh had spawned. Thinking I'm a daring man, living life on the edge. I decided I would have them engage in combat with one another. If I was lucky I could get the fur and meat from one of them. If I was really lucky one of them would be dead and the other would be very low on HP and I could kill it and gather it stuff (The furfur is the only thing in the game, mob wise I haven't had the chance to kill in some way or another). After a bit of playing around I finally got the perfect set up only to be disappointed by their lack of integrity to kill one another.

weird, i've been perfectly able to set wishpoosh on hydrukeys and argopelters (the latter is a losing competition, though).
Maybe caused by the fact that the furfur has no hitbox ? (does it have no hitbox, or does it ignore other hitboxes? I haven't actually encountered any, yet)

What if... that wasn't really a furfur but someone messed with game files and made, for example, frog look like furfur?
