That's different from the people I spoke with - some even are not playing now and are waiting for expeditions. In any case we shall see, it's too early to tell. I believe many will change their opinion when they see some unique goodies available from expeditions. I also think it will be a commercial success - imagine how many store purchases will there be in the beginning of each expedition, when people try to get the tools and some advantage over the competition

Agreed. For sure you'll see me at the beginning of each expeditions but I'll still be active in the main server too. I hope the playstyle will be different enough that it will be entertaining playing both servers.

well, i don't really talk to people who are no longer playing, though i have seen several people quit because of the way development seems to be heading- expeditions, among other things have been mentioned as issues. I will be extremely pissed off if i am 'forced' to play on a temporary server in order to get stuff that would give me an advantage on providence.

I think the advantages would be silver, rare artifices, legacy and store items. Nothing that people won't be able or willing to sell imo.

Hmm yeah, I can imagine this annoying some people. Guess devs will have more details and will ask for feedback in the future, when they start working on expeditions. I for one look forward to temporary servers. I just like to start over, but with permanent server you can usually either start as a hermit (got bored with that) or join an existing town. Somehow travian / railnation style gameplay seems most fun to me.

The devs have done a great job thus far and i've been very impressed, but this is the one area where i really worry if they'll get it right. In my opinion, expeditions should be developed around the main world, not the other way around, but we've already seen providence affected by their plans for expeditions. Purity grind rates, 'providence is the 'slow' server', etc. I'm sure some degree of this is necessary, but providence should come first.

This thread is complaining about the lack of drama in recent months- a valid complaint. And this is largely due to the whole 'providence will be the slow server, expeditions will be full of drama' decision, right? It will be alleviated when we actually have the expeditions full of drama, but i question whether it will be enough. Certainly for myself, it makes no difference what is happening off in some temporary world which i consider meaningless, and it seems to me things will be better if providence and temporary servers would be less far apart in what levels of drama seem to be intended.

Or your lack of creativity to tell a story.

Example: "Vigilance is about to die but I can't be bothered to give him a thread and tell his story."

Too small a character and too little drama to deserve a whole thread, though Meth could've elaborated in his post. Let vigi rest in obscurity.
Pretending there is real drama when there is not won't help matters, and is generally shameful imo.
