Looks like the hardrock sections aren't that small, so just putting in a grid of mine supports should hit one eventually.

I must be really unlucky lol.. So what post was that from? What is the white(ore?) areas and the black(hardrock?)

I also having something weird happen that I can't explain.. I start geting nothing but 0 eather ore even though I have +150 on my gear. if I take my gear off mine a tile and then put it back on mine another tile it seems to get me out of it.. I can't tell if thats a bug or just geting bad rolls..

white = iron
Yellow = bronze
Blue = silver
black = hardrock

can anyone confirm that purity of wrought iron doesn't carry over to blister steel?

i'm certain that i used some pure wrought iron but all i got are 0,00% steel bars

That is correct, all mine are 0% too

not sure why we would need purity steel (yet) though

Im happy (and greedy) dwarf owner of lvl 5 Just get there after 4 (!!!) HARDROCK VEINS totaly burned and mined out....

At that rate mining still way easier/faster to purity spam than other systems.
