let me say something you all should be aware but some dont seem to be aware of.
everyone starts as a new forumer and mods are mostly nice and friendly, and neutral as you start out.
one builds up his/her own reputation on the forums and some may be loved some may not be loved.
it all depends on how you have been acting on the forums and chats.
you wanna be their pet or work for them voluntarily for whatever reason? then be nice and behave cause you need to earn trust first.
being jealous or hating on those who won their status is just ridiculous and i see why those whiners never get chosen and how they have to whine that it looks unfair.
btw, dunno about paradox, but devs hate "democracy", so mod elections would not happen unless paradox insists, just like petitions would never work for seatribe games.

you dont have to be a mod or an "elite" to do that. ive done one with bug and tech help list and it got stickied pretty fast in pre-com beta at paradoxplaza. do it yourself if thats what you want. if you dont want to do it, then dont ask volunteer mods to do it.

Perhaps in the future now he will assume that if somebody scamming him isn't immediate banned its not a scam? Or perhaps the Tribe could have used that silver to better the lives of other players via free silver give-aways in boston..... Butterfly effect at its best here and something I think we should all be mindful of. Moderation SHOULD NOT have ripples on in-game events or in-game politics unless absolutely necessary.
forums, at least Trade one and HoB, are part of the game. forums and irc chats effect the game world both directly and indirectly. that is an unchangeable facts for this "political" game. you cannot change that, unless maybe you stop posting at all.
if your actions on the forums let you suffer for not being able to post, that is your own fault. (you even tried to evade ban. you should have been banned again too when greg was banned. its not only his fault but also yours.)
raiding or ranging are also parts of the game. but they are build-in mechanics so that such action itself can be criticized but not be moderated. however, if you are using the forums in a particular way for deception, like this time to a new player who do not understand much, mods should be able to moderate and give you warnings for such lame trolling and sometimes they should be able to ban you if you dont stop after you are warned. especially if it was to new-ish players who dont understand the forums much yet, it was treated more like a "help" thread where such trolling should be disapproved.
also, scamming has become a part of the game, but it is not dev's nor paradox's intentions imo, and i think they and their volunteer force shall try their best not to let that happen
when they can. (which has a lot to do with sock-pupetting.) that, of course does not mean that they can always prevent scamming from happening. still, when they find a particular thread scamming, they should lock it.
you were not banned for scamming (although id love that to happen too), but for your lame trolling attempts to a new player, taking an advantage of the situation. unforgivable to me.
finally, dont go crooked nor try to find ways-around and blame others, use your common sense instead of your attention-seeking vice, then most things happening are suddenly crystal clear and you can find moderations here look just fine.
p.s. Dallane is still enjoying his ban (longer than yours) in case you didnt know.
