Alts have nothing to do with this. Do the crime and someone will eventually come kill the time you invested into the alts. You can scream LOL JUST A FARMING ALT all you want but in the end a kill is a kill.

I think my first post on the Salem forums (a different account) was something similar. Instead of ghosts tho, it was vampires. Murdered High Bile characters would have a low chance of coming back as a vampire. New Enlgand had a number of vampire panics usually during outbreaks of diseases. Someone invetably would get dug up and their heart burned and ate or some such craziness. Disease is a scary thing.

In any case, like the ghost idea, it takes something away from the game play, death stings a little less. I think more importantly it takes something away from the uniqueness of witches. The game starts to take on a certain profuse supernatural horror feel, which is cool, but a not reigned in enough.
