Snakes

Postby VitaminK » Mon Oct 22, 2012 6:45 am

I'm guessing no devs have ever encountered a snake in the wild if this is how they think they react in the wild. It's getting a little old just walking through the woods to have a snake come from pretty far away and chase me till I am either bit and poisoned or am lucky enough to be near a stream.

I think they should be a danger, but currently it's a little ludicrous that a snake would hunt you like they do currently. Maybe change it to a 50/50 they aggro you when you lift a fallen log and definitely do if you attack them outright. Maybe even if you step too close to them or something.

snakes are not a problem. run away or time a attack to kill them. use a custom client to see them on the map also

Except as far as I can tell they are faster than you. Also it takes several hits to kill one and you're poisoned before you kill it so not much better...

I didn't even say they were a problem just current implementation is very unrealistic.

There are some tricks to safely killing snakes. Check around on the forums because this isn't the place for the discussion. A little creativity also helps. (I'll tell you that they can't swim for one.) Also learn how to use the speed controls. I haven't seen anything faster than you when running.

I'm not sure if you read my entire post or not.

Just suggesting a few changes to them to add some realism, not asking how you fight them or if they are an issue

Snakes are not faster than wander mode. They also appear to have a line of sight. Find the LOS and attack from the other side = snake for dinner.

I haven't had the opportunity of running away from a bear. OG Fuzzy Butt is pretty easy to see from a mile away. They don't swim, either. (I don't expect that to stay this way, though.)

It doesn't matter if bears can't swim. They roar if you try to run, building up your fear. If your humours are not high enough to kill a bear then they are not enough to survive fear.

Snakes speed is normal walking speed, they're easy to outrun and jorb has probablly said snakes will not poison you everytime when they get around to it.
