I found information that all problems with tex atlases could be workarounded through shaders even without tex arrays. I think there was link on a book called 'ShaderX'

Possibly, but it would be very nice if it could done without shaders as well. :)

Hmm i wish we could develop special graphics card for Salem only. I think we will have perfect performance in that case. I'm not a pro in OpenGL mechanics so i cannot really help you with this question.

Hey, iam not sure if this would help with the topic but... *and iam far from knowing much on this*.. but when i was playing Minecraft... there was things in the mod section looking similar to this problem.. checking out on Minecraft and how some ppl made it work might help... i dont know.. just my 2 cents...

If you or someone else could link to something more specific over there it would be nice since I'm sure the developers don't have time to do such searches themselves (the mod section for Minecraft is quite meaty after all). :3
