The old H&H rule of 'lift when empty' really worked well, no reason not to use that again if you ask me.
On a related note with cupboard costing the so much more then sheds we really should have a second tier kind of indoor storage option. Maybe half the storage of a cupboard, but built out of low grade materials (no glue just boards), kind of the indoor equivalent of a box, it retains the 'falls apart outdoors' restrictions.
I find very little incentive to build houses of any kind when you can't afford to put anything but chests in them. Having already spent the time and materials on a house means my house-only storage options should be cheaper per unit of space then the shed.
