You really need to learn how claims work

Salem is a evolution of HnH and they both have the same or similar systems in place. You saying its a different game means nothing as that is false when you get down to it. Its a problem stemming from hnh that you clearly didn't play.

It's not really yours anymore if you leave it on someone else's claim.

Exactly. Working as intended. Don't give gifts if you will just want them back a few moments after

Fix is simple

this should be left alone, i like the fact that lazy/unobservant people occasionally lose a boat on someones claim.

in fact it is a cheap learning experience that forces newbs to learn some basics of the crime aspect of the game helping them avoid bigger and dumber mistakes later.

I did play HnH, maybe not in the lifeless way that some people do, notice that I know enough to have referred to them as vclaims not town claims. All I am saying is that I know I did once get out of my boat while on a claim and thought "oh **** I lost my boat" but then found I was able to take it. I don't know how this came about, like I suggested perhaps the village was out of authority or something. I'm not suggesting that it should be changed or anything, I am just saying that I know I was able to get my boat back for some strange reason, like the one I have suggested, perhaps it is you that needs to learn how claims work. Anyway, I agree this thread is over.

That would be legit if the boat-claim interactions were actually consistent with the way crimes and the crimes on/off setting worked in the rest of the game, but they aren't, the boats are a one off special rule that doesn't actually teach the newb anything other then how to avoid trouble in this narrow situation. JC seems to get a kick out of weird inconsistencies in the game being 'traps' for folks who have not experienced them or heavily studied them. The question is do these inconsistencies just come off as bugs to most folks and make them think the game is lame? Could traps be designed in such a way that when people fall into them they get to feel after the fact that it was some skillfully planned bit of game design and are impressed rather then turned off from the game.

Lesson 1: make personal claims visible. It's such an important feature even the default client has the option.
