I think you are playing the wrong game, JC is much more generous with the patch notes than Jorbtar was but not every detail of every change is in the patch notes nor should it be.

Actually you don't. Just need to dig diagonally.

Still don't see any sence in it. It's not about exploration or investigation, this is purely game mechanic, and if it 'was intended', then it had to be described in patchnotes. Tears are always nice to see, but shouldn't be collected that way, it's a shame.

sshhhh its a feature not a bug

You posted this in the Bugs section, did you not? But like John said, mines are intended to work the way they do, walls and all. Head to the corners if you want to powerhouse the best ore without making mining clothes.

No, diagonal purity spreading.

The section named 'Bugs & Technicalities', not 'Bugs'. And there are many things which are not bugs, but they still belong to this topic.
Anyway, I got an answer from JC and expressed my opinion. How could I know about that invisible wall before I faсed it? It means that now I need to dig the same distance to the corner. Even with ~550 mining I'm getting ~80-85% ore. It ruins all the efforts.

Almost sure it looks like that:

Where the edge of the circle is ~95-100% pure ore, and it 'meets' mine's area close to the corners of the square.

It's not a technical problem either, don't be butthurt just because we're not going to change a mechanic to suit you. It's also not that difficult to make clothes with a small mining bonus, and even a small bonus will give you some benefit. Lets see... I've been Very lazy about upgrading my clothing and so most of it is one step up from newbie, like yellow cloth and leather, and my mining bonus is +72.

No, it doesn't. It's on a diagonal, not a circle. It looks like a diamond if you can't picture it.

You mean ore purity is determined not by:
- |x|
- |y|
- sqrt(x^2+y^2)

but by |x|+|y|
Where x and y are coordinates within mine map with the ladder being in (0,0)?

I'm ok now. Already burned my chair and got the new one. That's really stupid on the part of game design, but I'm ok.

Even worse. Thanks for information, but why no one said about it before? This is the first time I see such an illogical thing in Salem ._.

Yes, resulting in each corner being twice the distance from the ladder as each edge.

I suppose we assumed everyone knew by now that the mines have walls just like the server has walls. So, even assuming circular purity, the logical thing to do is mine on a slant. We also can't put everything in the patch notes, but the question got answered once it was brought up.

As in "technical issues" regarding the operation of the client on various operating platforms, not game mechanic issues, though those can be discussed here if there's a bug present. If you have issues with an implementation and think it should be changed, Ideas & Innovations is probably the forum you want.

Just an FYI here. Feel free to ignore.
