Regarding Chief while I find killing noobs indefensible,

He warned us regarding the fake mushibag contract and had been planning assistance.
Nobody else on the server offered assistance when the wolf was at the door.

While he may be evil to an extent as morality goes in Salem, I would suggest he is the lesser of two evils with you in the picture.
