Inconvenient for the developers? it's quite convenient for me, because i do not want to fight. Forcing me to fight is making me do something against my will. Therefore i would be doing something that makes me unhappy which leads to that i will become unhappy playing Salem which then leads to me quitting because the game serves me no more.

Why is it that people nowadays always assume everyone likes to compete. I just want to coexist and be left alone by the criminals as far as it is possible.

Let's say you would get your way and make me fight. For me to survive and avenge i would have to do:
1. Invest a lot more time on this game (which i don't have, don't want)
2. Grind up humors and try to reach some level of competence (i fell behind a long time ago)
3. Study so i can get murder (which now is harder, since there is no purity in inspirationals) .. so don't have that.
4. Invest weeks upon weeks to get the perfect gear that rivals the big guys to even be able to scratch them. Now i would just make them giggle if i hit them.
5. Do some actual pvp combat and learn how to fight a player. (which also requires time and effort)

I don't know the system very well anymore, i am honest about it. You have made much improvements, so much has improved since the last i played full time. That is good.

Now hypothetically even if i achieved all of the above without dying, and i would be ready. I still don't feel like i want to fight. Fighting in game makes me stressed irl, and it's not a feeling i like to have.
So it feels like you are making me fight a futile battle, which i am destined to lose no matter what. Because i don't want to win in the first place. I got my reasons for that as well, but i won't go into that.

I think the map size is fine. if you make it smaller, the criminals will get more targets to their "convenience" range. The situation will get even more heated than it already is.
I know from haven what kind of imbalance a teleport system will cause, so i am against that. The Darkness and church system is something i think you should work on.
Not by removing it, but by giving people other options to survive/thrive in the darkness.

Instead of trying to make people fight for justice, implement something that makes fighting less profitable in the first place, something that promotes being a good "citizen".
Fighting in Salem, profitable or not is still the only "endgame" this game has. I would like to see a peaceful endgame option. Make something for me.

Syndarn, thank you so much for expressing exactly how I feel about PVP in this game. I would never try to take PVP away from the players that enjoy it, but sometimes I feel like us non-PVPers are being pushed into a PVP shaped box. I would really like to believe there is enough room in Salem for everyone. From the most blood thirsty raider to the cuddliest of carebears!

The feeling of being a slave and being owned by someone is even worse to me than having your character killed or village destroyed. That means that the time i was in that village.. i didn't have to fight, but i felt sad and worthless and guilty the whole time, i did not get to go out and explore the world because i was being afraid that i would get killed. I lived the life of someone else, i was controlled. That is not the life i wanted or want. I want to be free. I want to play the game in a way that makes me happy. So in a way if i do what you say, i become a victim.

Thanks, just felt i had to get it our of my chest :D .. i agree with you. There is enough room for everybody. Most people just don't have that perspective yet. So it's not part of their reality.

I must also agree with Syndarn. while I see the excitement in aggression and fighting (especially in a group situation), its not my true nature. With little experience in pvp, it would be plain suicide, thus destroying months of invested time. I guess i'm more of the coexist, support and defend if necessary type. All this hype to jack up murder just doesn't work for me.

I like carebears. I like that they're in this game. My play-style is non hostile.

That being said, you're playing a game that from it's onset to its foundation is a PVP, open sandbox, PERMADEATH game. I don't see the expressed concern as being "hype to jack up murder" and if that's the stance you feel we're taking, you aren't paying attention. There is a concern to increase the rate of interaction. If you don't want that, you started playing the game under false pretenses. If your base gets smashed tomorrow and you leave for good, you weren't meant to be here. This isn't a world to whine about griefers. What other games call "grief" is life in Salem. It's a path all its own that should be just as balanced as that of the pacifist. It's not that there isn't room for both aggressive and passive players to play. It's that the game will always have aggression and the passive players need to find ways to cope with it either by hiding in mines or planning bases for defensive upgrades. We don't want to make things easy for people to break your base. We do want it to be possible.

Edit - All that ^ being said, I'm a huge proponent of incentiving "good" behavior or, better yet, disincentivizing criminal activity, specifically against noobs. If you're an established player, the best I would hope to every see put into the game is disincentivization of base wiping or a high cost of attaining murder as I do realize establishing yourself is time consuming and a huge investment that just isn't fun to completely lose. But that's my personal stance and not necessarily the direction the game will end up.
