Add Pathfinding

Postby Trenix » Tue Sep 30, 2014 4:53 am

So I recently started playing this game again and find myself running into everything, like trees, boulders, and even into water that I can't swim in and it's all because my settler walks into a straight line rather than around the objects that intercept his path. That's why I suggest you add pathfinding into this game, big time. It's not a very good first impression for new players.

No, do your own pathfinding. Also how are you that bad at moving that this is a problem?

Lol... no.

Players who cannot manage to not click into a tree, and expect the game to move their player where they 'mean' to go and not where they actually click, should return to whatever themepark genre they are accustom to.

Yes, let me click multiple times to get around an object because our previous developers were either too lazy or too inexperienced to add proper pathfinding into the game. What's even more amusing, is how you try and justify their failure to polish the game by trying to put the blame on me. Not really sure why anyone would want that extra pointless effort to walk around in Salem, but I guess some people have nothing better to do than to manually walk around every single object in front of them. We really need a face palm smiley...

Obviously I'm not clicking on the tree, I'm clicking beyond the tree, but because it's in my direction, I for some odd reason run into it and stop moving instead of going around it. I also usually use the map for when I'm walking around since it's much easier to right click items their and then pick them up. However that feature is useless because we don't have pathfinding. Not sure why my settler is dumb enough to run into a tree when I didn't tell him to walk into it, I told him to walk around it.

Awesome, something that no one else has and I didn't even have to pay for it! By seeing how you act, it kind of shows the direction Salem is heading, which is the same one the original developers went down and it ended with failure. Paradox didn't even want to support them. You clearly made me a target and additionally attempted to insulted me, all because I provided suggestions and revealed flaws in your systems. The game is still crap, not much has really changed. It's different but not better. I know your game will fail, because people like you always do. Sorry but you're absurdly unprofessional and no one likes to deal with that ****, it makes whatever they have to offer a joke. No point of continuing, much rather watch you go bankrupt. People, aside for your small fan base, don't like complexity or your dreadful mechanics because they're simply not fun. I played because this is literally the only free MMO Survival Crafting game with no limitations to free players, that's all.

FYI pathfinding IS implemented (see animals finding their way around stuff) but players are not given access to it.
It is a deliberate choice by the devs and one I agree with. It fits well enough with the rest of the game and setting.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

animals have no pathfinding...
they just randomly choose a different direction if they bump into something.
sometimes meaning they bump 5 times into the same tree.

thats not pathfinding, thats easy programming :)
