Yes, our original plan was to add fishing hooks which have purity based on the metal, which in turn push purity to the bait and also the fish caught. This was another item that we had to cut to keep schedule. I decided it was an acceptable loss given that I know very few players who prefer the fishing system over the traps themselves.
I have yet to see a game where the fishing system is loved, so I have no grand illusions that whatever system we come up with for fishing would be astronomically better than what we have now. For the time being, with 11 other food groups, and traps for those who don't like it, the fishing system remains low priority.
Hmm does that mean fish traps are capable of catching every type of fish? I was under impression that traps allow player to catch only a subset of all fish.
While we are at it - which factors affect what type of fish will be caught in a fishtrap? Location and time for sure. What about the bait?
