i do not understand why this client is so unstable and performs so badly compared to ender's, i was under the impression it basically was enders with some extra stuff thrown on.

this client is much more stable than enders, fixing some notable crashes from enders (such as URL clicks crashing you, and porting occasionally crashing you). As for bad performance: some people have it worse with mine, some don't. I haven't yet seen a pattern.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Relogging between character can quickly kill the client. First relog causes small jittering (probably GC running more often and for longer?). After second relog game crashes after few seconds with GC overhead error. Heap is set to 1024MB according to jnlp.
Probably the fact that after relogging all menus are retained from previous character has something to do with it. Default client doesn't crash this way

a long-standing gripe I have with it myself, and I haven't found the cause yet. But Ender's has this same issue, so that wouldn't be what Darwoth is referring to.

ps: for what it's worth, i've now updated ender's latest version with the patch and waiting on a reply to update his first post :)

i have run enders instead of your client the whole time there have been both due to the stability i get with enders vs yours, otherwise i would have enjoyed **** like advanced prospecting and the graphical options for fields etc with yours.

with enders client i can run a half dozen separate clients without any issues other than the natural framerate decrease, still no chop etc however. with your client even one instance of the game has me locking up/stuttering for a split second or so every few steps. porting to town it takes me a full minute to load on average even with nobody around vs instantly with enders. running two clients will cause a memory leak that gets worse until you close all clients. launching the client will frequently launch a "ghost" second java instance also.

ender's does not give me that mem leak problem you are speaking of.

It really takes a whole minute to load after porting to the town? It's like 10 seconds max for me. What's your connection?

Actually, I remember in the past that after porting to the town you could see people naked until their cloths loaded. Can't say the same now - do we get a blackscreen until all cloths are loaded?

i'm on a 30 mb cable connection. it has to be client related as i do not have the same issues with enders or the default client and the client is the only changed variable.

no, you can still see flashes here and there if you pay attention ;)

The black screen should go away as soon as the terrain is loaded.

and for what it's worth: I'm perfectly able to run 4-5 instances of my client at once without any issues. I haven't yet have need for more than that.

Then maybe terrain used to be loaded before everything else, sequentailly, and now it all goes at the same time, concurrently?
