New Service Building for Boston

Postby Fylas » Mon Oct 08, 2012 2:41 pm

Hi to the devs and everyone reading this.

I'd like to ask if it was possible to add a Boathouse to Boston at a later point where people can Rent a storage slot for Rowboats or bigger ships to store away in safety, To be able to safely store a boat at Boston where its easy to access with a low risk of it being stolen would be very nice. I' personally would pay up to 1000 silver a month for a rowboat slot in Boston. I't could be similar lift able object slots or have a caretaker npc and a entrance area that if right clicked while in a boat automatically stores your boat in one of your free slots and drops you in front of the Npc and the other way around if you want to take out your boat it opens the interface for your hired space in the boat house, showing what you currently have anchored there, your current pool showing how many weekly or monthly rent's you paid in advance and allowing you to make payments. If you right click your boat your dropped off already sitting in it at the boat house exit. With this automatic storage and retrieval it would discourage smartasses a little camping the harbor in hope of getting to lift up a boat before the owner gets inside.

What, so you can store all your loot there?

If this were implimented it would need some mechanic that if there were scents pointing to the boat, then the boat would be given to the holder of the scents.

Hmm this also leads me to wonder, what would happen if a murderer, after commiting his crime stood afk in boston until the scents expired?

And yes there should be safety's to prevent criminals from abusing a service to provide safety FROM crimes to provide safety FOR crimes :/

Rather than storage, why not have a building in boston that just lets you buy boats? Maybe you get a special item that creates a full sign-post that still needs to be built up. Could only be used in Boston or something.

Millions of alt vaults say otherwise :P

To the point of the topic, though: why? You can just port back and forth between Boston and your home at will. I can't see a single thing this will add to the functionality of the game. Now, being able to build one at my town so I don't have a dozen (or more) boats just laying about could be useful.

What it adds? the ability to hunt along the coast of boston, I don't have leaf forests where I live so being able to hunt trough the forests south of boston's coast or simply to hunt along its beaches for extra beavers is nice. The ability to hunt along the coast of boston effectively more then doubles the area I can hunt in without doubling the traveling time since I can teleport between home and boston. Giving me 2 start and end point for my boat tours.

No, stop coming up with this **** ideas. We don't need anything like this in the game. Build some walls, put a boat in there, claim it, and tada you have your storage for your boat. Don't make up stuff like this.
