If TorchPosts/Braizers has square areas of effect this would make it considerably easier to avoid leaving 'holes'. Every land ownership method is rectangular and walls are virtually always built in boxes because of the cost of posts, squared Braizers would be cover 484 if the sides were 22, but if you made them 19 on a side (the square of the Brazier + 9 in each direction), then the area is just 361, 95% of the currently planned area, but way easier to manage and plan around and would I think ultimately need less due to less wasted overlap.

Lack of overlap makes it easier for players to not make a mistake. Players not making a mistake makes for less tears. I agree with your assessment, just not that the end-result is something we are pushing for. It is not our intention to make design easy or simple. It is our intention to make the knowledge, time, and investment into good base planning vs. bad base planning as rewarding as possible. The easiest way to reward good base planning is to punish bad in our eyes.

You seems to be saying that anything that induces tears is good.
But not all mistakes are fun mistakes and not all tears are fun tears, stuff can simply be a pain in the ass for both the attacker and the defender, which is what I think most folks would say about the raid&defense systems currently. To focus solely on punishing bad just creates a drive to get up to 'adequate' levels, and knowledge of what is adequate is not hard to figure out, I just did the calculations

Place each Braizer in a row with 17 tiles between Braizer, place parallel rows with 16 tiles between rows, staggering the Braizers so that the each rows is offset by 9 tiles from the one before, total coverage is achieved with minimal overlap and one braizer is needed per 306 tiles.

+++++!!!

Why not let us to move these braziers? You have to understand how much frustration this patch will bring without such option.

Anyone, please, put it in I&I.

Please let me carry braziers so I can chase you with one overhead as it fires

Dose smashing a Braizer currently drop any of the metal used to make it? If it could do that it would go a long way to making it less costly to move them.

This would/could be the deterrent to raiders carrying braziers. Raider keeps getting hit by the brazier, maybe even for more to the point destroying would be better. Just tossing it out there. After all, we are talking about a burning pot. Sure, you got insulation, but can anything dating from that period really insulate against 500-600+ degrees? (Probably more like 1100-1200 as a charcoal fire can be pushed hot enough to melt lead and copper and forge iron.)

Hmmm... The Torch Posts are now 22 squares same as old braziers.
