If botting gives you an advantage over someone and lets you kill / defeat him, and you enjoy killing / defeating, then how come you see no sense in botting?

Pildream wrote:Dude, I mean u have to be pretty stupid to play a game that u use bots and hacks to bring yourself in a win-win situation.

You loose all the satisfaction of accomplishing something if it is not an equal competition environment, plus you ruin other peoples game probably ( that with the blood thing )

If you know that you 're gonna win anyway you just loose your time.

And if you have any kind of ethic you feel bad for cheating, coz other might not know it but you do, lol.

So I ask again, why would someone use bots and hacks ?

This explanation may work for you and for me, but not for everyone. There are many people who don't play for satisfaction of working to reach a goal. Some play simply for a satisfaction of making others' playtime as miserable as possible.

In any case - I invite you to play Wurm a bit. In that game you will experience riveting gameplay like standing 30 minutes in one place and pressing 2 buttons every 10 or 20 seconds. In such situation you feel like a living bot, tasked to press 2 buttons in regular intervals. You start thinking "Am I really that retarded to spend my time this way? Would it really make a difference for the game if it was me mindlessly clicking or some bot, letting me to do more productive stuff in the meantime while still enjoy more interesting aspects of the game?"

That's another side of botting - to skip the boring stuff so you can enjoy interesting stuff. I greatly respect jorb and loftar for their attitude to botting - if player wants to bot, and therefore skip part of the game content, then it means developer failed to design this game content to make it fun it enough

Any craft games are giving free to think for people .you cannot call like living bot.people can change own minds every sec by doing another stuffs.BOTS are programmed to do one way and he cannot change own program . because it is robot.robots cannot think to free.he was programmed.I know every type of game is giving limit what to do but how do this can choose people.but not a bot.

Because using bots actually scratches the same itch for a lot of people.
Part of the fun in "playing a game" comes from the act of exploiting the rules of a complex system for your own benefit / to reach your goal.
It follows that "using a bot" is the same as "playing the game", only in a different way.

That does not mean I approve of bots, but I blame the game mechanics for that instead.
People will use bots for every task that gives a return if performed repeatedly and brainlessly for a relatively long time, in other words "to grind".

Also think about this:
Technically speaking, in a video game where a computer program is supposed responsible for enforcing the rules, there is no cheating.
If you find you can do something that you were not intended to, that is only because of a design flaw (in respect to the "intended behavior") or a bug in the programming.
And being the client open you cannot even use the word "hacking".
I was lucky...

When a player needs to use a bot to overcome boring aspects of the game, the game itself failed to entertain that player.

It's the same with people. Some people tend to act like indian customer support. They can't grasp the problem, they don't understand what's being told to them and all they can do is quote and repeat some manual.

Now, leaving your philosophical digressions, you don't expect thinking from a bot. You expect it to perform simple, repetitive, mindless tasks. In fact, it's a sign of human intelligence to design a mechanism performing simple tasks instead of doing them themselves. Humans think, design, solve problems. Bots do.

The funny thing is I'm not even defending botting

Same applies if you use "features", yet you see people doing this in Salem all the time.

If you leave your computer to get a drink from your fridge, while leaving your macro/bot/automation running we reserve the right to ban you.

Be behind your computer when you are playing and you should be fine.

Hmm... cleaning an inventory full of raw cotton while making coffee... botting or not botting?

The rules of botting are the same in any game because there is no way to prevent it. If people really want to bot someone will figure out how to do it.

At that point one of two things happen:
1) Nobody cares or nobody can tell.
2) Someone cares.

If 1: bot if you want.
If 2: bot if you want. Don't cry if you get punished.

So, since inspirationals and some structures are losing purity, does that mean I can feel free to make me some sulphurey concordats the day before the patch, without wanting to facedesk due to them retaining purity/a role in humus production post patch?

I wouldn't be so sure worms are losing their purity. We liked the worm purity mechanic.
