You're shoveling it down my throat now, I'm literally about to explode.

Yes, I understand the implications of this game and what it means to be playing in a permadeath and full pvp scenario. However, what you did was a troll and I don't know why you keep denying it.

I mentioned the testing thing sarcastically, it didn't look like a test of any sort of features to me. Besides, Jorb and Loftar had a Dev server for that kind of thing and I'm sure you do as well.

It's one thing to be affected by something you have actually implemented in to the game, it's another to seek someone out, place an item in front of them and not expect them to seriously just leave it alone. You knew exactly what you were doing but you're hiding behind the defense of "He voluntarily put it on."

Did you know there is a similar legal scenario for this type of thing?

(Yes I realize it applies to children but that doesn't mean the point isn't relevant)

Yes, we do, and none of us who tested the hat were adversely affected there, or later on the live server.

This is not a thread I will permit to be derailed. If you want to argue game development or morality or whatever this is with John, Kaios, create a thread about it elsewhere. Any further posts here on the subject will be hinnomed.

If you are going to delete my posts then at least move them to hinnom.

I was hoping I could get a clarification of rules on posting...

What is the policy regarding posts that only contain quotes of another post not accompanied by relevant commentary?

There is no rule about it. It mostly seems to be used as a form of agreement with a poster and I have no objection to that.

It would be nice if more of you put huge quotes in spoilers, or deleted the parts you aren't actually responding to, but that's just my opinion; I don't like scrolling.

I disagree with the ban Claeyt received, he posted pictures of the Providence area chat. Yes, they contained a whole lot of words that the profanity filter would bowdlerize, and yes, he did it intentionally, but only to prove his point that it's being made rather hard for probably not only him to trade there.
Seriously, I think redacting the images because your new rule would demand that and issuing a warning to Claeyt, informing him to put such evidence in a PM rather than a public post, would've been enough.

When does the in-game profanity filter get implemented?

Claeyt received 7 days rather than 1 because he only recently came back from a ban. Those who break the rules with great frequency will get longer bans.

Claeyt was warned about his behavior and that it would lead to a ban both on the forums and in PMs and still broke another rule. That is two warnings where I normally give one. If I was unfair, it is only in that I was too lenient.

You'll have to ask John when.

RL pictures of Chuck Norris are also permitted, unless he downloads Salem and objects.

That's a stupid standpoint. So if a person leaves the game for X weeks anyone can post personal information about them until they complain when they return?

Agreed. This sets a terrible precedent. The purpose of http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10032&start=40 is to attempt to intentionally oust the rl identity and data of a player/member of the community, which despite its lack of a direct complainant is inherently against the forum rules. The images should be removed and the topic hinnomed if for no other reason than to ensure that this kind of harassment isn't copied and used in the future.
