It's time to calm down. Argue about it as long as John is willing to take time away from bug testing the next patch, but stay civil or you will be banned for a few hours to cool off.

Since when does ***** around ingame and on the forums count as bug testing the next patch? Unless they intend to... patch the forum game :o

Darwoth wrote:saying there is no genetic difference between race and tendecies toward certain behavior patterns based on racial makeup as a result is laughable and tells me your "biology degree" came from classes taught by people like claeyt.

Why is this allowed on the forums? Race has nothing to do with Personality or Behavior, Culture does.

JohnCarver wrote:I for one am not even really sure what we are arguing about?

We are arguing about you specifically trolling individual players because you dislike the way they post. I do not think that the dev's should be trolling the players in-game by nerfing their characters (It's a nerf because I can't put pockets on it, I also can't slot it for hunting or slot it for combat) and that when you do specifically nerf individual players you don't like because of the way they post on the forum you hurt the game.

JohnCarver wrote:You seem to think there are circumstances that can exist where a player putting a dunce cap on himself should be allowed to have it removed by dev's despite its intention to be a cursed item requiring effort to remove.

I disagree.

JohnCarver wrote:I have no illusion that you will change your mind as you are willfully allowing circumstances related to the event to cloud the fundamentals. I, on the other hand, have no intention of taking anything outside the exact context at hand into consideration.

We are at an impasse. Further argument at this point would do little but support as evidence that perhaps we ourselves should have the cap as well. A few points of clarification:

#1: There is currently one way in-game for the hat to be removed, and at that point he would be free to use it as most would have assumed, and try to get it to land on the head of his enemies.

#2: We intend on implementing more sophisticated mechanics to deal with these items in the future as well.

#3: Claeyt is not the only person who got a hat.

I share this with you only because I think you might find these things relevant to this exact situation. As I mentioned, I do not.

This argument is not over.

You keep saying that I put it on my head but that's only you continuing to troll me. You specifically ported to me out in the darkness while I was mapping and said that you "had a present for me" and that I should log onto Belethor in town to receive it. I saw that it was a hat. There was no description or slot count on the hat. It only said 'Claeyt's Cap'. You keep saying that I should have seen the word "Dunce" on the 2d image in my inventory before I put it on.

Here's that image in actual size:

Image

Not only is it almost impossible to read the word "Dun)e" when you blow it up but I play in my living room on a flat screen and it's incredibly tiny. How was I supposed to know that it would perma-nerf my character just by reading that little pic? There's no way I could have known that. You've said that I should have seen that and then asked you what it did. How exactly should I have known that it wasn't like every other piece of clothing in the game and that it would have been removable. You didn't tell me that it was cursed or that it wasn't removable until 2 days after you gave me your "present".

You mentioned that there is one way for the hat to be removed but you've given absolutely no clues to it. You told me in PM that if I killed Belethor and then destroyed the body that the hat would then fall off it. Is that the one way you're talking about?

but here you tell us not to kill our characters to get it:

I get it **********, you have to kill the character.

I would be careful what you advertise. I would hate for you to have his blood on your hands. In an effort to save the life of a Player you yourself are now trying to troll I will share that the hat SHOULD NOT be able to be larceny from either a KO or DEAD character.

How terrible would you feel if you convinced Claeyt to kill himself only to find out the hat was still tagged as unequippable via the larceny interface.

I would appreciate if you don't go out of your way to troll one particular player.

You wrote that an NPC will be able to remove the hat in this upcoming patch but you didn't say if it would simply kill people and then destroy the body for you or if it would actually place the hat back in your inventory while leaving your character alive. How exactly does he remove it? Does he kill you to get it off?

You also mentioned a priest that deals with cursed items that was coming out this fall or in 6 months or so. Is that what you're talking about with future ways to deal with this? Do I have to wait for that if I don't want Belethor to die just to get the hat off?

Yes, Champie got the hat but he was able to choose which character to place it on and he was told what it did before he was nerfed by it.

At the time you gave it to me, I had just been banned for reposting one of Darwoth's racist cartoons on the forum. He and I had just had this argument over race and TotalyMeow had banned me for a day. I had accepted my ban and was fine with it. I naturally assumed that when you gave me the hat you were trolling me for arguing with Darwoth. You mentioned my forum posting as the reason I got the hat. I will take you at your word when you say that it had nothing to do with mine and Darwoth's racism back and forth and that it was just incredibly bad timing when you decided to troll me immediately after I had been banned for that. Many, many people think that's the reason you gave me the hat and that you agree with Judaism and Darwoth's belief that 'Blacks are sub-human' or 'genetically inferior'. I would hope that you keep saying that that's not the reason you gave me the hat and keep saying that you disagree with Darwoth's views on race.

Here's our initial Pm's. Your initial vague PM didn't deny that that's why you had given it to me but if you say it's not then fine.

Image

I was confused as to why you had given it to me at that exact time. You didn't help by continuing to troll me and talking about vague forum behavior. At the time you guys had only owned the game 2 weeks so I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about. I couldn't figure out if you were talking about my posting since you had owned the game or since the beginning of time. TotalyMeow had said that all previous posts and punishments prior to you guys buying the game wouldn't be punished by the new dev team.

Image

Recently you gave me these reasons about my forum posting as why you trolled me specifically with this hat and won't remove it. I'd like to know if other players are under these same rules and if they'll also be punished somehow or be given a hat if they also don't follow these rules of yours? Or is it just me?

Image

You gave me the 'World's End' thread as an example of why you were trolling me with the hat. I tried to explain that I was confused as to who Pride was. I thought he was Yasso that was all. You seemed to think that I was trolling the thread or something when I was just trying to get answers about what happened to Sunari, Suff and Yasso. More and more I realized that you were just doing this to troll me specifically and individually.

Image

As we kept going back and forth on PM's I realized that you were simply doing all of this to troll me and for no other reason. There was no testing of the Witchcraft mechanics. There was no actual help from the dev's when I was having problems with it crashing. You kept saying that I was lying about it. I also realized at this point that in my opinion you wrote just like 'Jwhitehorn' in your PM's. After I found out from someone on HnH that talked with the old dev's that jwhitehorn had actually hired and was paying several players from this game to code for him. This information along with the other information that I posted here previously (I'll share it on Skype for anyone that wants it), certainly points to you being jwhitehorn. All of this thread and this dev'd hat made specifically for me makes me think that you are jwhitehorn and that you are probably just trolling me as a dev just to grief me because you can.

Maybe you're not jwhitehorn but either way, you act just like him and it's pretty frustrating to see the game fall into whomever's hands if this is how you're going to dev the game.

I'm truly disappointed for the game that these are your first real new dev actions with the game besides the new stall and a town makeover. I had high hopes for the game when it was 'bought' by a mystery dev team but now I doubt I'll ever buy anything else from the shop if it ever comes back up.

The Great Silencing continues.

For every jackass out there who didn't believe when I was crashing on Ender's and Kand's clients, It was actually happening.

I tried to erase parts of them and redownload them on Friday which didn't work. Finally on sunday after I got a message from Kand I fully saved all my massive amounts of map tiles, erased the game, uninstalled Java, erased all Salem files and then re-downloaded the newest Java, and re-installed all. It worked for 4 days until Kand's and Ender's went down again. Luckily I'm all good now but it was a very frustrating 3 days last weekend.

Thank you Kand and Champie for the help

Welcome back, Claeyt. How I have missed you. :)

It is interesting to observe how you seem quite preoccupied, in general, with what "people think" rather than what is actually the case. Not only do you make it an argument over and over, but it also seems generally reflected in your debate tactics as you frequently try to discredit your opponents in what you believe to be the public eye, instead of arguing the actual point.

I have a strong feeling that had you lived in Germany in the 1930s, you'd be heiling the Führer on the parade frontlines and write treatises about the wickedness of the Jews. After all, that's what most people thought.

So do you have any opinion on how jwhitehorn's doing with your forum yet?

If anyone at all believes this it is only because you lied and told them it was so. Furthermore, the phrases you keep putting in quotes were never posted by either Darwoth or Judaism, but are based on your perception of what you think they said.

Regardless of who said those things, neither John Carver nor I think that any race is inferior to any other race. Your forum posting was cited as a reason you were singled out for a dunce hat not because of that particular thread, as was pointed out to you several times already, but because of your overall posting methods.

Almost every time you enter a thread, you ask questions that have already been answered. When you are told the answer is there, you ask to be pointed right at the post or posts where the answer can be found. You claim to not understand the post. If it is further explained to you, you claim to not understand it again and then proceed to make statements that completely misinterpret everything that has been said so far. You then take those statements that you have made and declare them gospel despite anything anyone says to the contrary. This is why you wear a dunce cap.
