I believe we have been up-front from the get-go that it is not our intention to move Salem too far from its roots. Unique items given to players in-game is nothing new. SeaTribe dunking players in rivers causing them to lose all their gear, inspiration, and other goodies, was also been a favorite past-time on this server for the first few weeks. While we have no intention of making a habit of going out of our way to manipulate the game-world. We too crave tears. Claeyt went on a little rampage on several players on topics and posting habits that we found toxic to the community. We could have banned his character, or banned his forum account. Even now he slanders the game with untrue facts on websites and is trying to PM me with attempts of extortion that he is going to bring down the population of Salem with his bad press. Instead, I decided that it is precisely these kinds of interactions that make Salem unique. I know both myself and Meow tried to work with him to get the cap off, he instead chose to continue his hostile attitude, and quite frankly, I have little desire to stop this river of tears for somebody so refusing to learn from his mistake.
I know this won't sit well with you as you seem to have a need for logic and the path of least resistance to be pursued at all times. But in this case. We are finding this entire endeavor entertaining to let it continue its course.
As usual, I find your response to be hypocritical of past statements. If you're going to subject players to the rule that they have to deal with the consequences of not only their in-game actions but their forum actions as well, even if that means they are subject to bugs or other sorts of issues, then you should perhaps be willing to hold yourself to the same standard. If your actions directly caused him to anger and now he is venting that anger by means of sending out negative press to other potential players, that's unfortunately something you'll have to deal with and punishing him further or refusing to take any action at all doesn't make the situation any better.
