You using the default client or having items that only work on the default client is not intended. However, we also determined that the hat works just fine with Kandarim client on all of our tests. So it is highly possible that your kandarim is not working for some other reason and you are trying to blame it on the hat.

He could have KO'd anybody and put it on them, or simply asked me in town what it did. Instead he chose to put an item that said "dunce" in the inventory onto his head. That it about as willing as a participant gets IMO.

Nah, just as you don't appreciate words being put in your mouth, neither does one appreciate you giving more meaning to their actions than there really was. A competent developer doesn't just drop a newly created item out for anyone to grab (Although it's clear who it was intended for) and not explain anything to anyone about it knowing fully well that it could cause any kind of issue.

Even if you don't feel the need to explain anything to someone when you make them a test subject, the least you could do if you can't solve the issue is remove the unwilling participant from the test as they ask and put an end to the argument once and for all, considering it's a supposed "test."

Instead there's an allowance for a continuous barrage of insults and a complete run-around making no progress towards any sort of reasonable resolution.

Claeyt, perhaps you should take a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=264

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen the new devs post anything that disagrees with this stance on custom clients. Therefore, you having a problem that only applies when you are using a custom client is... your issue. Not theirs.

The client works for all my other characters just fine. Tell me WTF I have to do to stop my game from crashing in Kand.

To be sure, there is certainly nothing extraordinary about the hat that somehow makes it "reasonable" for a client to crash on it. If it is true that Kand's client can't handle it, then that's a bug in Kand's client and he should debug it anyway (I'm certainly willing to help him do so), or it is something strange on Claeyt's system specifically.

No because the custom client is working fine. The only thing that's not working with it is the unequippable hat

CUSTOM CLIENTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED IDIOT.

There is no trolling at all. Its just your inability to try and fix the problem yourself.

How do I use this while that's happening?

In the spirit of "testing" you should remove the hat and allow Claeyt to solve the possible third party client problem you suggest. He did not agree to the terms of this test, so it would be appropriate for you to provide him with the option of removing the hat until he can sort out his client problem, if it exists, as you suggest it might.

As usual, I find your argument logical and quite possibly the correct course of action in a lot of arenas and settings. I believe we have been up-front from the get-go that it is not our intention to move Salem too far from its roots. Unique items given to players in-game is nothing new. SeaTribe dunking players in rivers causing them to lose all their gear, inspiration, and other goodies, was also been a favorite past-time on this server for the first few weeks. While we have no intention of making a habit of going out of our way to manipulate the game-world. We too crave tears. Claeyt went on a little rampage on several players on topics and posting habits that we found toxic to the community. We could have banned his character, or banned his forum account. Even now he slanders the game with untrue facts on websites and is trying to PM me with attempts of extortion that he is going to bring down the population of Salem with his bad press. Instead, I decided that it is precisely these kinds of interactions that make Salem unique. I know both myself and Meow tried to work with him to get the cap off, he instead chose to continue his hostile attitude, and quite frankly, I have little desire to stop this river of tears for somebody so refusing to learn from his mistake.

I know this won't sit well with you as you seem to have a need for logic and the path of least resistance to be pursued at all times. But in this case. We are finding this entire endeavor entertaining enough to let it continue and run its course. Which is ironically, completely up to Claeyt himself at this point.
