Why would any dev of any game punish players in-game for forum disagreements? They should be above the game and if they wanted to punish our forum behavior then they should simply clip our posts and ban our accounts for whatever amount of time they think is fair.

I don't think the forum's loathing for you stops on the forum.

You failed to address the part about the devs actively griefing a player in-game using development tools.

I think the issue as a whole doesn't reflect well on the new devs.

The original concept of a dunce hat was funny, I have to agree. Claeyt is the punching bag of this forum and that hat just fits the role. However, I also think it should just have been undone the moment it was clear there were issues. No matter what Claeyt may have done or said after.

Perhaps in the future the devs could work with the major client modders a bit? Give them a heads up on new stuff to ensure smooth transitions for all clients. It would certainly improve the game experience for a large part of the players. Plus, issues like this might be more avoidable without putting an extra burden on the devs.

Exactly correct. Other players will punish you, not Dev's. A dev should never get involved with wiping players or factions in-game. If they have a problem with a player's forum posting then clip it.

Additionally, we have to ask the question: What if Claeyt HAD given the hat to someone else (as the devs suggested he could have done) before wearing it. What recourse and what reaction would that player expect from the devs?

Well that's the big issue here. It's not so clear there ever was an actual issue code-wise. A lot suggests he was lying to get his way.

Perhaps in the future custom clients should be removed entirely and the Official client should stop being ****. THAT would be the best solution.

So you can be mad one day say for example about the Suffragium ban but the next day defend those same developers simply because they claim someone is lying? Or that they are crazy? Or both? Yeah Claeyt tends to rant on about things and even over exaggerate but I don't see why that entitles him not to have an issue fixed, especially when it was caused out of stupidity.

I'd defend anyone else were they in the same situation, it doesn't matter that it happens to be Claeyt. Do you think I care if these retards call me butt buddy or whatever? I'm saying what I think is right and what I think is that these new developers have yet to be so comfortable in their position that they can go around performing these retarded "pranks" which has only caused a **** storm to ensue.

I think we've gotten past the whole idea that I'm not having an issue with this bug. The dev's and loftar can simply see me trying to log onto the client. I've written a bug report on Seatribe's bugzilla. If anyone told me how to get a crash report then I'd do it. The dev's have told me that they will need to restart the server to wipe the hat and it's code apparently in PM. All I want to know is "Can they actually remove it from my character?" and "How long will it take?"
