Sorry, i almost forgot that there are some people in Salem, who don't like "kill-or-be-killed" gameplay. I got no idea why they are here.

Yeap, i think it's the best solution for any MMO: hardcore and non-hardcore servers. Carebears will live happy and free, pre-born killers will not have to hear carebears whinings.

funny thing is, without prey, a predator dies soon enough.

This is the fact that ALL pvp players forget..
'Make something hardcore pvp' - no prey for hardcore pvper's
'Make something balanced' - pvp players whine but keep playing
'Make something pve' - more players play as they dont have to put up with the whining of pvp players..

I personally think Salem is not even close to 'hardcore' pvp. The map is too big for that and its not like you are falling over noob towns..

I think it has a very nice balance, theres a fair bit for pve players to do (up to a point), and the perma death full loot pvp which actually has a level of skill involved outside of zergs, means the concept has good legs for both sides..

If only the systems werent as grindy and ***** up as they are, and there was lots more content we would have the chance to be playing a much more populated game, with much more pvp and pve for everyone. Pity we have to wait until hafen comes to see if that product is going to deliver the best of what Jorbtar intend to deliver.

Only if "predator" think in that way.

As for me it's not a "predotor-VS-pray" thing. There are just people who want to play hardcore. They got a lot of other things to do and they enjoy crafting, building, farming, hunting, exploring as any others.

But they want game to be more realistic: no stupid restrictions, you can be as bad or good as you want to. Everyone may be killed, everything may be destroyed - if you're not smart enough to avoid it. In this wicked world you need allies, and you need to see who's a friend and who's a foe. No place for stupid peacefull lets-be-all-friends ****.

So these people will be just fine on their own. If someone can't find anything to do but running around looking for easy kill - he's not a predator. He's a parasite.

Real PvP-player don't whine - they just quit. As i said above - "hunter-VS-pray" thing is for morons only. PvP-players just avarege guys and they got a lot things to do without hunting carebears.

PVP player is exactly a predator vs prey mentality.
a hardcore player (in salem) isnt a predator vs prey. (in this case hardcore means whats lost is lost, death is death etc, not no lifer who plays 24-7)
the real problem in this is that most PVP players want hardcore, and most non pvp players do not want hardcore.
the thin line that wants hardcore and also pvp or pve is what comes to salem and stays.

people seem to want realism in this, you die you die.
you lose stuff you lose stuf.
but then consequences must be logical as well in this.
in the real world at the time you didn't want to die, so you banded together. if someone wasn't pulling his weight he would be expelled.
if someone committed crime he was tracked, judged and sentenced.
the more people in one place the safer since you could dedicate people to defense and to creating food etc etc.
in this game more people is not safer, its just more people who can betray you. and betrayal is always completely risk free since the alt is just ignored afterwards or even if its not, he can port to boston and run the other way and rename and resettle.

once the prey (the betrayed/peaceful farmers) leave this game the predators (betrayer/pvp-er) will be bored untill they alone become what they seem to have been hating.
farmers and prey until a new target arrives or they too leave for greener pastures.

once only the tribe, darwoth and a few other PVP/hardcore players are left they will stop logging in as well, since a fight between friends is boring and then the predators will be shown for what they are.
carrion eaters who follow after the healthy group of prey while nipping at their heels and howling for food.

bashnagdul, I think you went too far with the assumption PvP players play only to hunt non-PvP players, "the prey".
They can play just as fine by fighting other PvP players. It's a rat race - everyone is the prey and the predator at the same time.

those are the hardcore gamers i meant. the ones that do both PVP and PVE but enjoy the permadeath-permaloss mechanic.
and PVP players only hunt prey, whether or not the prey is also a PVP-er or not.

and yes, i may be taking it a bit to far. :)
