Ojects that are used should break

Postby bashem » Wed Mar 19, 2014 4:29 pm

I've been thinking that structures that are used like Kilns and ore smelters should break. When I say break I mean that they need to be repaired not destroyed. When you right click on the broken structure a menu could pop up showing what materials you need to fix it. It could break after a set time period and number of uses. The materials could also be randomly chosen from the materials used to make it.

I thought this would help make sure that materials are always needed and help in creating a constant trade system.

*not sure if this is already in game I haven't encountered it yet*

It is in game and is called "decay". Almost all built objects can decay and require repair. Unless they are on claim. But then, claims have their upkeep.

I'm talking for items on claim. Also that they just break, not disappear.

But we already pay upkeep for them not getting broken.
I'm having bad memories from Wurm where I had to regularly run around and repair stuff.

nice idea, but I think the game is already stacked on this type of mechanic... so many little things to take care of... it should explore new directions
