What the Hell happened to all the Nodes?

What the hell happened to all the Iron/Copper/Water nodes?

One day I'm finding plenty of nodes with woo-wooo's and rods and the next nothing. What the hell did the dev's do?

I wish I had taken a pic of the place I found with 5 mines on the same screen (granted I scrolled the camera way the feck out)
