Intercept with a stomp (ie start the move before they move into aggro range), then quickly finish them off while they're stunned.

Not sure if you could this last world but ya can also stomp to start combat. Easy peezy hunting without the need for a sling. You won't hit them but it insta aggros them gits

I wouldn't advise that with dangerous critters, because the animal will get a hit in and interrupt your stomp 90% of the time. If it's a spider and uses this opportunity to web you, you're screwed.

Had been assuming that spiders were aggressive, but hadn't been agro'd yet, I'll stick to avoiding that biome then.

Luckily. I'd better watch Bear/Silkrunner fight. Who knows, if spider stuns first then I'd see poor bear

Careful about that of course. You don't want to be anywhere near a bear that's fighting because of the fear.

Those thinking about cleverly preying on Bear that have somehow been previously occupied or webbed or something should also remember the fear debuff, and the fact that Bear are tough. You need a lot of sand to handle a Bear. Even then things can go wrong and you can get your **** wrecked quickly.

Almost happened to me today (not a bear) when I ran right into multiple active players outside one of the larger town building efforts so far in this new world. Thankfully, my **** didn't get wrecked.
