weird, java is supposed to (and for me, does) show a more informative error message ("self-signed application was blocked from starting by your security settings")
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Hi there,

I'm trying to run this on my Mac - the updater works fine, I get to the line which says "Starting client…" and then it just quits on me. Any idea why this is happening, or where any error logs would be stored?

Maybe some new java/mac security. Default client stores files in cache which seems to be default java applications behaviour. While custom clients stores files in yourUSER/salem/ . Maybe on mac running second jar file not from default cache path is being blocked? Try running it from console or make mac .bat file equivalent and try running client with that. You should manage that easly as you are old hnh player :D
Code: Select all
java -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -Dhaven.resurl="http://salemthegame.com/res/" -Dhaven.defserv="plymouth.seatribe.se" -jar salem.jar

thanks chiprel for the answer.
I know very little about macs, but I do know that there have been some (huge gaping) issues with java on mac, namely mac blocking java stuff for some weird reason ("user experience protection")

I'm actually having the same problem on a Windows 7 laptop. Everything seems to update properly, it says "Starting client" and then the window just disappears and nothing launches

Edit: I have Universal Extractor installed on this computer, and it seems to have overwritten the file associations for the .jar file. After first trying to re-write these associations (using the command prompt) and then using unassoc.exe to remove the file type, Ender's updater.jar is now working for me and launching the modified client. Using the .jnlp file for both Ender's and this client results in the window just disappearing as I mentioned before, and I couldn't get the .jar file to work because of the file association problems.

it should, eventually. I'll make an effort to get it updated as soon as possible, but my spare time is rare these days, so it can take a day or two (the weekend at the latest, I'd say, though).

But, no, I don't expect it to be working right after the wipe (due to a difference in gluttony and so on and so forth, which will probably require client changes).
