If our civil war here in the United States is anything to go on, prepare yourself for centuries of division and bitterness. I was born into a family that came over with Lord Baltimore in 1610, settled in the north country of South Carolina, bought some slaves, and went on to become one of the wealthiest families of antebellum South Carolina. When the civil war began, the family split; some went North to fight for the Yankees, some went to Mississippi to set up new plantations to be further from "Yankee intrusion," and most stayed put and sent all their able sons to war. Once the war was lost by the South, my great-great-great-grandfather spent the whole of the remaining family's fortune to buy black votes for the Democratic candidates, in an attempt to reestablish slavery.
To this day, there are people in my family who refer to the Civil War as "The War Of Northern Aggression," and there are members who refuse to speak to me because I was born in Detroit. On the flip side, when living in the North, I can't even express pride in my Southern heritage for fear of being labelled a racist. After 150 years, there are still open wounds in some corners of the country. Of course, we followed up our civil war with a century of Jim Crow laws and segregation, so it may play out a bit better in your case.

A little harsh on Dallane's question. Where we come from we do not adhere to this modern paradigm you see used everywhere else. When anyone, for any reason whatsoever takes to the street, loots, pillages, vandalizes, commits arson, etc they are a:

CRIMINAL

Somehow, someway, somewhere....someone....decided lets not call them that anymore. We will now call them the:

OPPOSITION PARTY

Where I, Dallane and Darwoth come from, you act like that, and you either end up at two possibilities:

(A) SHOT DEAD
(B) JAIL

If 300,000 Americans took to the street and did what is going on in Ukraine, which did happened in both mine, Dallane's, and Darwoth's lifetime: Los Angelos Riots, which I grew up through, living 45 minutes North of the *****, and I assure you...it was not just Los Angelos; The National Guard, and the State Militia's are armed to the teeth with very high power grade weapons, and will be sent in, and suppress and quell your insurrection, very very fast. Not only are they armed, they have the Supreme Law of the Land stating that they in fact ARE the force to come put you in check.

Anyways, when I see a lot of these photos all I see is Insurrection, and criminal activity. I do not see Revolutionaries. The same **** going on in Syria. I sadly was able to see before it got pulled: Syrian Opposition Soldiers hold a mock tribunal(Judicial Hocus Pocus) to condemn several male children between the ages of 6 and 12, condemn them to death, draw their AK-47's and execute them. When you make it to the end of the video, your mind says the following in reflection:

I just witnessed a multiple murder.

Yep, little boys. Young, balls hadn't even dropped. They had been caught "aiding" Syrian Armed Forces soldiers, and were rounded up, and condemned under the charge of Treason. If you find the right video on the internet, its a group of jihadists with AK's, several male children sitting down blind folded against a wall. One guy is reading some sort of paper(like it makes any of it legal...lmao) out loud to them, then orders the men to shoot the children. And from there, no, the video doesn't end. You see it all.

It's **** like this that makes me yearn for the days of American Imperialism. So many Americans ***** about us entering foreign conflicts and trying to "police the world," but some countries need policing. As a nation we may be flawed, and we don't always have the best way of doing things, but at least we know where to draw the line.
