I am just curious. How come Mushi can set in here and forum Lawyer and get no ban. But I did it and got no warning, instead I get a 30 day ban?

Saying hello in a hello thread is most definitely not irrelevant.

Posting in a thread that had barely any contents to begin with a few weeks after the thread has died, and posting the same relevant things in 4-5 more pages of topics? That's indeed no grounds for a ban. What the hell were you thinking, Potjeh?

Bringing up a point once in a while doesn't earn a ban. You might get frowned at or a warning, but likely won't get banned.

A group of people beating a dead horse, on the other hand, will likely net everyone doing it a ban. We did have a discussion after the fact, and decided that 30 days all around were probably too much, but then, nobody, jorb included, decided that cutting the time was productive.

So I should necro all the good threads from 6+ months ago, since all the recent threads suck?

Please don't. Or do. Either way, I'm sure we can find a suitable place in forum hell for the posts and poster if they do show up.

We lack a definite limit on what is and isn't a necro because not all parts of the forum have the same needs. Bringing up a thread with a half dozen posts in two days a month later in a place like HoB can probably be called a necro two weeks later unless the post is pertinent to the OP (and not just a "has this been resolved" or "you suck" post, which is needless bumping of a dead thread). On the other hand, a thread in Ideas & Innovations that hasn't seen activity in a year gets brought back up because someone has an extension of the idea is relevant and shouldn't see mod intervention. Effectively, this falls under the "productive posting" rule.

Agree, and that's why I didn't move those two posts when I was cleaning up the mess today. I debated it, but decided against it. I'm not a fan of the "hello" threads to begin with, but that's my opinion and who am I to force opinions like that on others?
I am a moderator. I moderate stuff. When I do, I write in this color.

Good evening,

From the looks of it here, yes.

As usual, if your default position is that the moderators will eagerly speak without knowledge, you're well-served.

Belgear is to Bigwilly what George was to Lennie. Neither Belgear nor Bigwilly have ever been in the Tribe, nor Treaty payers. However, Belgear is highly competent and resourceful, and I shall take no offense you've mistaken him for a Brave.

As for the rest of this nonsense - the forum moderators got where they are through nepotism, and remain by the same. Arguing about their double-standards is misguided, as they don't have any standards at all. This is evidenced by the half-hearted attempts to justify the ban, followed with image memes and accusations that all contrary parties must be henchmen of the Chief.

Faithfully,

-Paul the Paymaster

Touche.

Better if everyone just stopped posting until there were enough players around again for some real drama eh...

For the record do NOT say Hello in Hello threads. I will keep that in mind and would appreciate if that could be added to the rules somewhere, even if it does only apply to me.

I think you can probably word that better but yeah no debating the rules should also be listed somewhere also. Most people in free countries and who appreciate free speech will be a bit frustrated when they realize that contesting moderation is a bannable offense.

Oh, c'mon. I know you know that in the US laws protecting free speech apply only to Government attempts to regulate speech. As for the rest of the sentiment in your post, I can't speak for many other so-called free countries except one. Here in France, a country normally classed as "free", many of the exchanges on this forum would never be tolerated by the Government, despite the fact that this is a private forum. Just check todays headlines in France regarding Minister Taubira.
