Regarding a couple of the things people have mentioned, i strongly disagree that fishing should be changed to require less attention. I hate it how fishing in most games i've played is pretty much just cast out then nothing for ages. The fishing system has many good things about it. It just needs to be a little more fun and usefull.

About farming and lime though, i agree with the people saying cotton processing is badly paced and i think various things could fix that. I love farming, but i think upkeep could be improved. Woodchips are so boring. Couldn't we have something cool, like usually you don't have to do anything but some real quick raking or something, but like, occassionally there'll be like, a bug or something you need to deal with in some way and maybe there some sort of small reward? And putting lime on fields for plenty is really, really boring. I don't mind having to do so much work, but it could be made more fun. Our sets of 5 stamp mills are close enough to the pit boulders accumulate/we have to wait to crush them, dragging them is boring, and then the lime has to be taken over to all the fields/smelter as well. So lots of of walking back and forth... its pretty unexciting and it becomes really tedious when you're wanting to smelt heaps all the time/put plenty on lots of fields regularly/make really high plenty fields. I'm sure this could be improved a lot. Even if we could just have some thing to like, crush the lime into powder rather than a smaller rock or whatever and put it in sacks to dump on the fields at least. Or maybe like, use explosives on a lime pit to crack it up for boulders to appear or something. Well im way over-tired so they're not well thought out ideas at all, but im 100% sure improvements could be made to make these things much more fun.

I don't mind about coal clamps and board/tree cutting etc- it's a long enough period of time that i can enjoy doing something else like reading or whatever between having to do stuff.

This game is good if you are jobless and got nothing better to do, srs, that was only time i actually played this game and enjoyed.
Now i dont even have time to log in... not that i want to anyway, seeing lack of content and balance issues.

A great idea!

I second this. It could be extended too - right click on smelter, oven, fireplace - and choose fuel to auto transfer from inventory.

Regardless the best parts of the game are developing characters, crafting, exploring, hunting, and pvp. The problem is maintaining and growing your base. Yeah I don't have five hours a day to play. I often have 30-60 minutes a day tops during the week. In 30 minutes I'm fortunate to light a round of my smelters, and chop down a couple trees to replace coal/ replenish lime. Then it's like what can I do with my last ten minutes.

It feels like I'm doing chores but in game. These chores never end, never get faster, and never get more fun. High skill levels and new skills should allow for time saving devices like the stamp mill.

now reducing tedious clicking is something i can definitely get behind (having to single click each of 15 coal on a smelter as in the above post is a great example)

yeah potjeh, a lot of things sucks at the moment :)

for example i'm there in salem till 1/01/2013, more or less, and i admit i never got to biles higher than 50
i'm not a random casual noob, if i'm in the right mood i can start to make fields and stuffs to become almost near decent in game but, i really don't think so that's worth the effort

after a pause of nearly 3 months by salem, when i phisically couldn't play because of work, i noticed how better is the game without the need too log in in order to watch all the work that need to be done

now i don't even have a base and i'm perfectly ok with that, i can play when i want and i can enjoy tha game as well because i'm not sucked in any working frenzy

finally i think the game needs some changes in the time pace, because if i want to run a base with nice things inside (high tier farm, iron at will, ingredients etc) is too time spending for someone that don't want to freeze half his free time a day in a game. the solution is to make the process faster, to make it slower or to make it able to put in queue. like in other games i can put in queue up to 5 buildings in my city, why salem has to be different? why i can't send my char to chop wood from a tree (ex: 15 wood choppings)? why i can't plant 100 fields in funny layout in a single click, waiting like 5 mins (without touching anything) till the process is done?

that could be a very good improvement and maybe, let more people enjoy a game. because many don't have to stay all the day watching the screen for small amounts of iron
i'm the one who run :|

Sure guys, I'm totally up for a speedserver but don't let that influence the old servers.

Its not fair to those people who actually did put the time & effort in the game.

Making the game more easy will certainly result in more people playing, however how long will they play ?

I am playing over 1 year and never achieved 100% perfect gear, 600 biles +, 600 braziers on my base 500 s&c + and alot more, I personally enjoy the slow aspect of the game.

For a skilled player you don't have to play more than 5 hours a week to get a 300ish charater within 3 months. (only 60 hours)

Getting dominated in this game is easy to prevent, but trying to challenge the top players isn't.

Being able to queue things would be awesome.

Instead if a few pieces of iron every x time... I got other **** to do, you know, outside Salem.
I wouldnt mind to grind lime for an hour to fill up a smelter to find more iron the next day.
Now I have to build many smelters, load them up, log back on every 30 minutes... How am I supposed to do some real life work on the side? :p

Working on the click economy would definitely cut out some of the grindy feeling that you get from even basic tasks like starting fires. I find that grind is just fine as long as it doesn't feel too much like a grind. I love droning, repetitive tasks as much as the next MMO'er but it'd be nice to simplify some clicking procedures so that the some task can be completed without chipping away at your sanity.
