I've been messing, and there's now the option to filter your characters. Any character that matches the typed string anywhere in its name will show up (not necessarily at the start of the name). Alphabetical/Last-login order will be respected.

On a bright note, i've made the commitment to try and use the changelog from now on!

On a side -slightly darker- note: I no longer experience the resource crashes related to birch trees, yet I did not do anything consciously to get rid of them (except maybe update my java - AGAIN). Could some of the people that posted on it earlier contact me if they still have issues?
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Another update!

There is now a locator tool added. Be careful who you party! Mainly added for my personal convenience in precisely tracking down party members (randomly spawned alts).

Given that this is only possible for party members I have not reported this as a bug. You should be careful who you join in a party anyway.

As a side-note: I have encountered the birch resource issue on an older computer. I can at least confirm now that updating java is not a solution - the actual cause is still unknown.

The bug is gone for me as well and I didn't do anything as far as I know (except for playing Salem with the unmodified Ender's client). Thank you.

I can confirm that this is the case: if you let ender's client cache the relevant resources once, my client will not encounter the crash on that resource anymore.

Some words on the cause of the crash more for my own memory than anything else: when you toggle the raider mode trees, the client "creates" the resource of the stump by simply substituting "trunk" for "stump" in the name of the resource (no specification of the resource version). I presume that somehow the client assumes a version for the resource, possibly from a file called "bgload". The "normal" way for the client to load resources is by receiving a "name, ver" combo from the server for a world entity, thereby always asking for the correct version. I should be able to recreate the issue more easily on my own computer now! Let's hope I get it sorted out sooner rather than later.

This is assuming that the people encountering the issue are users of the raider mode trees

Little feedback. The changelog only shows first time i launch the client after an update. Would be nice if it was to be persistent.

Also, the new tool, wasn't it ctrl+q or shift+q? I can't seem to get it working? Or a bit more detail on how it works. I thought it would give me an arrow or a location or something? Tried it with some alts, can't seem to get it work for me.

Yes, I am a heavy user of raidermode trees. I always use it. The crash is gone for me now and the raidermode trees is still enabled. From what I can understand by reading you (maybe I'm misinterpreting), I will experience the problem again by disabling raidermode trees and then enabling it again. Am I right? So I should probably just keep raidermode trees enabled and play, while hoping you will fix the issue in the meantime.

no, untoggling and retoggling will not reintroduce the issue.
Clearing your cache will do so, however.
The new tool should be openable by ctrl+Q

It works fine for me: where exactly are you getting this message? When starting up the client, when logging in, when selecting a character ?
