on the topic of bans instead of an actual ban you should just create a new user group called "banned" that can only post on a new "banned board" that was created in order to give the banned an outlet to discuss their ban, this would also allow the banned to use their private messages to privately discuss matters with the mods or jorb/loftar

far better solution imo than the current discourse through third parties/alt accounts along with a white page and an annoying forced cookie removal to read the boards again

Ya, that was brought up a page or two ago. The idea is fine, except I'd push to not allow any pming at all. Bans do come about due to various forms of harassments through pms.

If I weren't a mod, I might just try to get an account banned just so I could read everyone else's rants.

Good idea, though, and I've seen other boards do the same thing as its easier than some of the other options.

Well, the rules do say the role of moderators is to "keep the forums friendly". Technically, that's not being too friendly, but I know more than a few gays that call each other *** and prefer for everyone else to do so, too.
