No, I quite well remember, and if I see a case of it, a temp ban is going to be a possible first response on it. "Where the line is drawn" is a good question worth discussion here, but as far as I'm concerned "go get cancer"/"hope you get cancer" is just mean, not an actual real life threat.

So telling someone that he should suicide is not okay, but telling them they should get cancer (or in this case, that it's cool that they have cancer, well deserved), is okay ? What's the damn difference ? If I can wish someone to get killed by nature, can I wish them to get killed by a random dude passing by the street or something then ? Like... i don't know. Please go get killed in front of your house ? Is that okay !?

§2 – Content Regulations - 5. No pornographic, racist or otherwise discriminatory or inappropriate text or images. This can include, but is not limited to: overly abusive, sexist, or racist language; disparaging any religion, race, gender, age group, or sexual orientation, threatening persons with actions in real life. The moderation team is the final arbiter of what is or is not inappropriate.

What exactly counts as "overly abusive" ? Because I slightly feel like gratuitous usage of either racially profiling or sexually profiling words is (perhaps, depending on the case, refering to cases where it's simply taken lightly over situations where it's meant as a toxic insult) less serious, and less overall toxic and abusive than saying something the likes of "you deserve cancer". And yet the former often gets either censored or sent in a day long timeout, and the latter is totally fine.

Still, that said, what Vien said initially was a richard thing to say, and understandably the somewhat shaken up Realak might have overreacted. A timeout isn't all that bad, if a bit circumstantially unfair as well. Would still like some of that moderation vigilance to go toward detecting actual toxicitity in the forums rather than just flagged behaviours that might or might not actually be toxic. Two friends used to addressing each other as "Hey mah ni ehm ice guy friend dude" , if you catch my drift, shouldn't get more flak than people circumventing banned language and banned behaviours to actually smear the forums in raw malice.

I mean even Darwoth managed to be civil and sportsmanlike and separate real life from in-game personas, so other people could at least try to match that.

Apparently, the point of the forum rules is not to make the forum friendly but to simply avoid legal problems - like police requesting IPs, logs, user data or whatever else. Suicide is a felony and thus persuading someone to commit a suicide is a reason enough to start an investigation. Just like real life threats. Death wishes and similar stuff, while equally disgusting don't cause legal problems so it's allowed.

That's not the point. Classifying it as a crime means that police etc. have a duty to stop you, against your will. Anyone actively supporting or encouraging you may face charges in court. That of course may differ between countries / states
