Hey guys I have a question. Is there anybody on forum who was cheated on by a stranger player? I mean when any player wants join a group or something like that. If there is, please tell her/his story. Thank you. I'm also wondering how to trust players. I don't wanna die.

You can't.

Which is the primary reason why it's difficult to make friends in Salem and more importantly more difficult to have a competent village atmosphere where workloads are shared and specializations occur. Due to this mis-trust most villages are created with individual claims and everyone has to do EVERYTHING by themselves in a false sense of security with people around them.

Now think to yourself: When your village gets raided, do you think your personal claim neighbour next to you who wouldn't share his dry boards to build your wall section will fight side by side with you against raiders or will he :lo and wait untill you are a skeleton?

Your best bet is to bring rl friends to salem or gaming friends from previous games with zero political ties to any factions currently playing salem. That or you could take a chance and live with others knowing full well you could log in one day dead.

Just read the HoB forums, I think you'll find your answer there.

In short: no, never trust the anonymous.

You can never fully trust a person who you aren't friends with outside of this game. Best you can do is doing a risk analysis and see if the benefits are worth the risk.

personally, I had the luck of getting into a pretty fun and trusting village at the start of roanoke (which has since died, because everyone except for me quit)

The town i'm now getting into was founded by one of the persons in-game which I know for quite a while now (and we've helped eachother out occasionally before).

I guess it IS very hard to trust people you hardly know, and you probably will end up getting robbed quite a few times. But for the few people you get to know which are fair, honest and helpful, I believe it to be worth it.

Fair enough, I usually spawn a new character to join towns, so I'm hardly risking anything.

You cant trust anyone, not even your real life friends.

Thanx for your comments, guys. I know that's so dangerous but i'll take a chance. Anyway i'm not bad . If someone attack me he/ she will ***** up.

Oh, man, the number of stories over the years that can be told of betrayal and assassination! Even when you think you know someone, you really don't. If you really want to go down this rabbit hole, I suggest reading Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, Nietzsche, etc.

One of the most infamous in-game cons took over a year and a half to finally pull off. A trusted director in EVE literally destroyed an entire alliance in under a minute because he got tired of the in-fighting and defected (or something like that). The US and Soviets have many similar stories if you want to look to real life. Heck, any two opposing armies throughout history are full of the same.
